Help! I need out-of-the-box presentation/Powerpoint ideas!
Basically I have "creative block" at the moment and need help with ideas for Powerpoint presentation I have to give about myself this Friday! It has to be 15 min long and I want it to be crazy, out-of-the-box because its for a position at this company I really want! The staff is really down to earth and fun so they said I can do whatever I want to present/introduce myself to the rest of the team,as long as its via Powerpoint. Examples from the past include board games and a rap video. How do I top that!? HOw can I stand out to ensure myself getting hired? Any ideas are welcome! Thanks guys!!!

What do you mean by board games? And did they create an entire rap video and just show it for their presentation? I'm confused.

A movie trailer? A political ad? An infomercial?
That's all I got.

It might be easier to tailor an idea based on who you are.
What kind of job? For example, if it's a job in human resources, you can make a video mimicking "The Apprentice" and use the phrases "you're hired" or you're hired.
What kind of company? For example, if they make parts for airplanes, make things into airplanes and take photos of yourself creating them or the things related to flying themselves - model airplanes, a puzzle of a plane, paper plane, bird wings, feathers, a superman cape, etc.
What is your age range? Bring out the pros of being a new grad, a seasoned professional, etc.
What are your hobbies? If you like to write, make slides of words and definitions from the dictionary that relate to you.
Get the idea??
If you want to share some info about yourself/the job, I can come up with more ideas.

If they want "cheesy" (which it kind of sounds like ... rap video?), PowerPoint lends itself well to "linear" elements. You can get creative here, such as faux children's storybook-style (think "Go The Fuck To Sleep") stuff, but the creativity is usually reliant on content, not presentation.
I think the most clever presentations I've ever seen were actually less reliant on PowerPoint's technology, and more abused the medium itself ... presentations with nothing but a single word on the slide let you show your own style and personality without using the slide as a crutch.
If you wanted to integrate the board game mentality, you could compose a series of, say, 50 or 100 slides with a single word about you, your past, your qualities, etc. - then make it so you go through 10 random slides (this would be relatively easy to program or do with invisible links - could even have the audience "spin the wheel"). The less intuitive the words, the better - instead of "Hard Working" to with "Tuna Tar Tar" - something that requires extensive effort and training to learn, but not a lot of time or heat to execute.

Well, here's an idea for you..
For a class in college, I had to give a 5 minute speech about myself, and we were required to use PowerPoint. I found using PowerPoint to speak about something that I know so much about (ME!) to be kind of weird.. so I got creative.
Going to Penn State Behrend meant that you were mainly in classes with people from.. Pennsylvania. Therefore, I decided my presentation would focus on where I'm from - New England. And I used the PowerPoint as "scenery." In a way, I was acting out a real, live movie. At one point I was in the stands at a Patriots game.. Then I was graduating from high school, accepting my diploma and taking pictures with friends.. Then I was riding a roller coaster at Canobie Lake Park.. And I camped out by Lake Winnipesaukee. I did all kinds of things and used pictures and videos as my backdrop while I talked and acted out different scenes. I threw in a few jokes, and also some New England words and accents. It actually turned out better than I originally thought it would

I'm probably coming in well too late, but I listened to a great lecture and saw the accompanying powerpoints, where (obviously well timed in advance) at the right moment a relevant key word or concept appeared on the screen just as it was said. (Lawrence Lessig)
I found it through a link on slate.com about how Powerpoint sux - and this was given as an example of great it could be. It was absolutely fascinating even though I'm not a law student.

on page 2. is the presentation by Professor Lawrence Lessig

Yeah, this is an old thread, but just in case anyone ever references it again, I wanted to post a cool alternative to Powerpoint: http://prezi.com/. It's computer based, but is way more creative than Powerpoint.
