Thumbs up Hunley brought up from the ocean bottom...

What do you all think about that piece of history recently brought up from the ocean bottom? The Hunley. It was buried for 136 years in sediments on the ocean bottom. And judging from the ocean floor bottom, they should be preserved quite well. (Geology actually taught me something! College works!) I think it will be interesting to follow the articles on the subject. I think the total amount to bring it up was about 17 million dollars.... That figure seems so high, it is almost "not real." I know a guy here in Virginia who spent 3 million to recover an old airplane, burried in ice in Greenland 50 years ago (150 feet deep, i believe).

Definitely an interesting topic. I just find it hard to believe that almost 150 years ago, they had a submarine, granted they had extremely limited air, and their offense was a battering ram with explosives on the end of it. It was still an amazing feat for the time!
