Question Where Would You Want to See a Sigma Chi Chapter?

Hey Guys,

I know that Headquarters is trying to bring back University of Oklahoma. What campuses would you like to see Sigma Chi?

I would like to see the chapters re-charted at: Missouri, Texas, Michigan, and Texas State (old Southwest Texas State).

I would like to see us expand to:
Rhodes College - in Memphis, Tn. Great school, beautiful campus. I don't know the last time they got a new chapter.
Truman State University - Kirksville, Missouri. Pretty good Greek Life school.
Missouri Western State - St. Joseph, Missouri. Greek Life is growing strong.
Florida International University - Miami (?), Florida. Check out their Greek Life website. A very strong Greek program.

Oh, I would like to see Gettysburg College re-charted. Very sad to lose such an old chapter.

I believe that one of our alumni (Iota Omicron Chapter at Western Illinois University) is working on the Missouri chapter to get them re-chartered. He works for a school in Missouri and I do believe he is working diligently on that.

That's great. I would like to see Xi Xi come back. It seems that we lost a lot of chapters at "flagship" schools all around the same time.

According to latest copy of Magazine of Sigma Chi, Headquarters requested permission to reactivate the University of Oklahoma chapter. The president of the university declined. Since it has only been 2 years, he may be waiting another 2 or 3 until all present members of Sigma Chi have graduated.

Current expansions and colonies:

University of Tennessee - Martin; have been a colony for at least 2 years, should be getting close

University of Tampa - new colonization

Knox College - taking on a local

George Washington University - believe this is a re-charter

University of New Mexico - re-charter

Anymore that anyone has heard?

Congratulations on your upcoming charter. I think one of my chapter brothers has been advising you.

Have we ever had a chapter at Lafayette College? Just wondering.

Phi Chapter. Chartered in 1867 and closed in the late 1990s due to "low numbers".

FYI: Inactive single letter chapters.

Beta: College of Wooster - Wooster, Ohio (1873)
Iota: Washington & Jefferson College - Washington, Pennsylvania (1858)
Nu: Cumberland University - Lebanon, Tennessee (1872)
Sigma: Princeton University - Princeton, New Jersey (1869)
Upsilon: Polytechnic College of Pennsylvania - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1865)
Phi: Lafayette College - Easton, Pennsylvania (1867)

My understanding is that the College of Wooster no longer allows national GLOs and the Polytechnic College of Pennsylvania either no longer exists or may have merged with another institute.

TSteven -

Thanks, I was at work and couldn't look it up in my old pledge manual. I knew you would probably know. Was Gettysburg not a single letter chapter?
I wish the website would have all the chapters posted somewhere. Especially because guys at colleges with closed chapters might be interested in starting interest groups. Sigma Pi's website actually has a very good set up with that.

Joey -

I think Jamie Frakes has been working with you. He is a prof at Dyersburg. I may be totally mistaken. The "I heard from Clint, who heard from Eric, who heard from David...." thing.

This sounds like it might be part of Temple or Drexel or something.
