Sigma Lambda Gamma

I saw a girl with a SLG jersey on today and didn't know what sorority it was so I looked it up and damn I am surprised! They are 10 years old, have 58 college chapters, 18 colonies (whew!) and 7 or more alumni organizations. That is really impressive. As far as chapters go-they are bigger than 2 NPC sororites ( if ariesrising's site is up to date-which i am sure it is)
Way to go ladies! keep up the good work.

Yeah, I think they are a historically Hispanic Sorority.

No, Phi Beta Sigma helped to start Zeta Phi Beta. Now, on a local level PBS may have helped a particular chapter.

Thumbs up Info on SLG

Hi All! Here's what I know...

-SLG was founded in Iowa and recieved some help from Sigma Lambda Beta, which was also founded there (4/4/1986).

-They are a Latina based sorority and members of NALFO (National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations).

-Are one of the 2 largest Latina sororities nation wide (the other being Lambda Theta Alpha).

-Have numerous chapters in California and are quickly expanding.

-Have various step/stroll teams and have won numerous competitions.

-Have great pride in themselves and the latino greek community.

In my opinion, SLG is a great asset at any campus and has done a great job in representing Latino Greeks. They trully have accomplished a lot in their time and I'm sure will continue to do so.

If you would like more information on SLG or Latino Greeks, visit: www.latinogreeks.com

I hope this helps.

PBS started SLB, which in turn founded SLG. that's where that whole "play cousins" relationships is from. they even have a yahoo group for PBS, ZPB, SLB, SLG. i think that's why their first letter is sigma.

What I've learned about/from the Beta's (SLB) is they did it on their own. They might have received encouragement/support from another organization, but they don't recognize anybody else as starting them off. Also, on the PBS website, they have a link for related organizations/greeks and they don't list SLB, they list Zeta Phi Beta. It could be how Sigmadiva said: "No, Phi Beta Sigma helped to start Zeta Phi Beta. Now, on a local level PBS may have helped a particular chapter."

Hope this helps. For more info on SLB: www.sigmalambdabeta.com

i stand corrected, i think it was support vs. actual starting it up and doing all the founding stuff. i forget who i got all this from, i think i read it somewhere on greekemails.com. they also have links to the sigma webpage on their alpha chapter's website.

HI There,

Sigma Lambda Gamma's are a great sorority and are very active at CSUDH. I believe they are rapidly expanding as the interest in Traditionally Latina Based sororities grows stronger. They are currently the largest Latina sorority in the Nation.

for those who want to read more about them their national webpage is www.sigmalambdagamma.com
