If you are on the West Coast (which I assume you are) and in college, most likely the organizations are putting the word out locally, meaning on your campus. In my experience, it is not common for members of organizations to organize mass PR efforts to advertise events they may be having. People may tell Sorors/Frat at other campuses and "expect" that they may put the word out on their respective campuses.
Also, you can call the Frat/Sorority office on a campus (at UCLA it was called OFSR (Office of Fraternity,Sorority Relations)) and they usually have a calendar of all "planned" functions that would fall under the programming efforts of BGLOs. I say "planned" because impromptu parties, etc. would not be counted. Public service events, campus programming events, fundraisers, etc. would be included.
Good luck.
