She said she was shocked but not completely caught off guard. Good luck to her.

Who knows why he did that. It may be more his loss than hers. 2 million spent and his friends used his credit card.

It'd be awfully hard to make a marriage work playing professional basketball. Also, Texas is a community property state, so in the probable event that things didn't work out (assuming there's no prenup), she gets half of everything.

Still, not a very classy move on his part.

I think certain personalities work in a marriage where one (or both) spouse has a job that requires a lot of time away, travel, or other things that aren't standard. I have no problem with a man who has a job like that, as I have my own stuff going on; I would have a problem with the celebrity issue though and people in my business or bothering us when we're just trying to live.

The comments below that Fox story are horrible. Obviously some men who picked the wrong women, or who were never picked, unleashing their bitterness on the world. I find it hilarious that they write as if they know the dude and understand his situation. If you hate women that much, seriously, leave us alone and we'll be thankful for it.

The comments on Fox Sports and ESPN.com in general are usually pretty terrible. It's not just this story.

I understand what you mean; I'm kind of the same way. BUT...the professional athlete lifestyle is a lot different. There are many who stay out of that world, but between the groupies, drugs, and crazy lifestyle I can't see myself committing to life with a professional athlete in a sport like football or basketball. Yikes!

I think it's better to cancel the wedding, even in the 11th hour, if you know it's not going to work.

IMO that's better than just going through with it and getting it annulled a day later.

A close friend of mine called off her wedding just a few days before it happened. Both her & the would-be groom notified the guests though, so that they wouldn't just show up. I think he [the basketball dude] should have done the right thing and told people way more than 2 hrs before the ceremony was supposed to begin

This situation reminds me of "The Wedding Singer"...."Once again, things that could've been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!"

I'm all for calling off a wedding if necessary, but really, if you're having doubts, haven't you had them for a while? Do they just pop up?

I'm all for calling off a wedding at any point, if you think you're making a mistake, up to and including during the ceremony. It's better than going through with it and gettnig divorced a year later (like I did the first time). However, if you do so the night before, have the courtesy to let your guests know then.
