I want to get into a fraternity. I have 3 good friends that have been in three different frats. The "Greek Life" seems very complicated. Why the greek letters, why the policies and this and that? I live in Chico, CA- where many fraternities and sororities thrive. I start school in Spring 2K. Where should I start?

You should start with the process called Rush. Basically every fraternity and sorority on campus will have heavily advertised get togethers and events early every semester, designed for people to go and meet the brothers/sisters and ask whatever questions you want to know. My advice is to go to as many different rushes as possible until you find someplace that feels right, because it is a serious committment, and you want to make the right choice.

Thanks a lot. The fraternity life definately seems like a commitment and fun. It's a little intimidating though. I hope to meet someone in the next couple of months that will refer me to one. Thanks for responding to my query.

I joined Zeta Beta Tau www.zetabetatau.cjb.net . It's actually still a colony right now, so I am an Alpha member which is cool. I was just initiated tonight, and all 8 of us get along great. I am definitely going to enjoy my time here at college and years to come - I can feel it.
