SO...today I'm thinking about two things:
1. Waterproof foundation. I have waterproof mascara, eyeliner, cheek/lip stain, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, and concealer. Now I'm looking for waterproof foundation. I need something that is going to hold up in the swimming pool.
2. Cover Girl has those new shadow blast eye shadow pens. Has anyone tried those? Some of the colors look promising but I havent used anything by Cover Girl since probably early high school/middle school aka the early 90s. Any thoughts?

Not really make-up, but:
Crest White Strips and similar products...any experiences or product recommendations?

Makeup lovers of GC: I need advice!
I need to replenish my makeup stock; I have had a lot of it for some time now (probably longer than I should have...), so I'm due for a good restock of most everything.
This is really the only thing I want for Christmas, which is what I told my fiance when he asked. However, I told him don't bother cause it would be weird for him to buy on his own, lol But then he offered to come shopping with me and just pay for it. I'm usually against that kind of thing, but I really don't NEED anything else, and this is the only thing I want this year, so why not I guess.
Anyways, what are some good brands to check out? I've dabbled with many drugstore brands (CoverGirl, Maybelline, Physician's Formula, Neutrogena) and some department store brands too (Clinique & Estee Lauder), so I'm really open to any suggestions. Moderately priced stuff is preferred, but I'm willing to investigate everything. The things I'm looking to replace are:
- An eye shadow palette
- Eye liners (black & brown)
- Mascara (dark brown)
- Blush
- Good brushes (foundation, blush & eye shadow)
Thanks in advance for your expert advice, GC

Maybelline (I think) Lash Stiletto mascara. It's amazing. I hate clumpy mascara, but LOOOVE long lashes and this stuff does the trick. And, it's cheap. LOL.
I like Rimmel London's eyeliners.

Eye Shadow palette: I'd suggest checking out sephora for that. It really varies on what colors you want and how much you want. They have some fun things that are set up for different eye colors.
Eye liners: MAC. Their eyeliner (I cannot remember the name and am not near my bag) is amazing. It never fades or wears off during the day/night.
Mascara: I love Dior show. I'm using a Bobbi Brown "no smudge mascara" right now, I think it is my second favorite.
Blush: Nars brand in Orgasm color. I have never seen it look bad on anyone. My other favorite is another MAC product.
Brushes: there are kits found everywhere. Most of mine are from Bobbi Brown. I believe Clinque has a good set as well...
Brands: I am obsessed with Bobbi Brown. It tends to be a bit more expensive, but is fabulous. She has written a ton of books about looking polished but still natural. I am also a big fan of Benefit.
I strongly suggest you go to stores and play around for a bit. Make up can be fickle. I happen to like liquid eyeliner with a flexible brush because of how I do my eyes. My roommate uses a gel and a stiff brush. It can be so individual to choose make up since it is all about how you do it. Some counters/stores will do the make up on you so you can see how you feel and teach you different things; this is why I like sephora because the women will take you to a bunch of different lines to fit your desires. Good luck!

As for the eyeshadow get the Urban Decay Naked Palette. It has 12 full size neutral shadows, a double ended eye pencil AND an eyeshadow primer for $44 - which is normally what you'd pay for THREE UD eyeshadows!! It's back ordered like crazy right now but get on the waiting list. This is one thing that actually lives up to its hype.
Eyeliner: Revlon ColorStay.
Brushes: EcoTools.
Chanel Inimitable is a fantastic mascara, but it's also $30 a tube.
As for blush there are a lot of good ones out there.

I second Bobbi Brown. I love her eye shadows, lipsticks, brow gel, and the gel eyeliner is amazing!
The rest of my makeup is almost all Trish McEvoy. Foundation, powder and blush/bronzer.
These aren't cheap, but I have very sensitive skin that doesn't freak out with Bobbi or Trish, plus I like the way this makeup goes on and wears.
Mascara: this is one thing I'll buy at the drugstore, because you should throw it out every few months. It seems like every time I find one I like, it gets discontinued, but the one I'm using now and like is Cover Girl Lashexact.

Some of my favorites are:
Mascara: Covergirl Lash Exact-- great for very natural looking, clean separated lashes.
Blush: Bareminerals Clear Radiance (just a hint of pinkish glow) and for a bronzer I use Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips in Vegas Strip (can also be used for blush and eyeshadow)
Eye shadow palette: Almay Intense-I-Color (just pick your eye color and you have some great shades)
Eyeliner: Almay Intense-I-Color (see above)
Basically for my foundations/lashes I use Covergirl (their skin tones match mine really well) and then for eyes I use Almay. Also I've tried and liked some Physician's Formula stuff, and Bareminerals, but BM was just too expensive to keep up with. A poor college kid has got to draw the line somewhere. As a note though I like a very natural/dewy look for makeup, with typically stronger eyes than lips. Hope this helps.

I second the Rimmel eyeliner. It costs like $3 a pop, and it applies so smooth. Love it.

My favorite eyeliner is Rimmel too! Though I really want to try Stila & it's on my Christmas list. As for low priced blush/bronzer, I like Jane, Be Pure Oil Free bronzer.
Check out the Ulta site. They have some decent things themselves (I have good eyeshadow base made by them) as well as many walmart-shelf through higher end stuff.
I find it always better to SHOW men what I want them to buy. Pictures help them remember!

Every once in awhile I'll slurge on something at Sephora and today that was "Underage Red" lipstick by Kat Von D. I love her collection. I've always wanted to do a red lip but I'm fairly pale and most red shades don't look good on me. This was perfect, and I love how it feels almost like chapstick. I hate that waxy, sticky feeling most lip glosses/lipsticks have. It was $18, but so worth it.

I suck at matching my foundation, so I go to a makeup counter for that. Ulta stores have a huge selection of makeup brushes! I love Lancome mascara when I can afford it. I'm too wimpy to curl my lashes, but Lancome always made them look nice. I'm curious about lash perms. Has anyone tried that? If so, how long did the results last?

Why oh why is this the first time I see this thread?
To put in my 2c for Lovespink88:
- An eye shadow palette
I'd go with MAC, as you can make your own palette!
- Eye liners (black & brown)
Love Rimmel eyeliner, easy to apply and lasts.
- Mascara (dark brown)
Diorshow. The best. The waterproof one is awesome, lasts, but comes off easily with remover. Makes your lashes feathery and lush.
- Blush
NARS blush. color: Orgasm. Nuff said.
- Good brushes (foundation, blush & eye shadow)
If you want to splurge: Shu Uemura, the best brushes money can buy.
If not, get the ones by Bourjois, decent brushes, loads of options.
I just spoiled myself with Chanel nailpolish. Great color, lasts forever and dries quickly and evenly.
