I know it hurts but stay positive. Think about COR and maybe going through again in the spring. You have only just got to UW-there are so many other clubs and organizations you can get involved in too.
I know what it feels like to get cut from a chapter you loved, so I can't even imagine getting cut by nine...
Have fun this semester, establish yourself at UW, meet tons of new people and if you still want to do this again, go for it.

Thank you everyone so much for your support.

I started out not even being sure that I wanted to join a sorority (the dorms aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be!) but I guess after four days of women asking me "Why do you want to join a sorority?" I've changed my mind.

I'm going to do Informal.

I've been sick with a fever since Friday. I'm not sure if it's somehow related to the stress of rush or just a coincidence. I guess formal recruitment just wasn't meant to be for me: finals AND getting sick. I was pretty much wiped out last week.

Well, I'll let you guys know if I ever join a sorority. As for now, school starts on the 27th, and I actually have a class with a professor who is evil enough to give us a large homework assignment to be turned in the first day of class! Reviewing six chapters in a chem book and doing a problem set. Evil!

Good luck with classes. I hope you feel better soon hun!

I'm glad your planning on giving COR a try

Informal Rush

SusieQ:

I was a member of a northwest greek system too (not at UW). However, I had a lot of high school friends who went through rush at UW. I know from their experience that it is very competitive at UW and a lot of the women I knew experienced heavy cuts.

One very good friend of mine had a very similar experience to yours. She was cut so heavily that she dropped out of formal recruitment. This really surprised me at the time because she is really nice, cute, good grades, etc. Anyway, she ended up pledging a house through informal rush at UW. She really liked the house and ended up an active member for all four years at UW.

Keep your chin up. I am glad you are considering informal rush. Best of luck!

Awwww...I am glad that you liked the KDs, though! And the AGDs! I had a lot of friends in high school who went AGD at UW, so it's cool to hear they're one of the "smart houses."

I'm glad to hear you'll be doing informal rush. Keep us updated on how it goes! Hopefully you'll find a place you love after the hustle and bustle of formal rush.

(Oh, and since I knew a few rho chis this year there, who were yours? Just wondering...)

So... I'm still here. I am starting informal for a sorority soon and am super excited. I have no idea how long the informal process takes but I'll let you guys know if I end up joining! I just wanted to let you guys know that it's not over yet...

FWIW, many of the women who go through informal recruitment find themselves less stressed and actually, can become some of the finest sisters of a sorority!

Have a good time!

Arrow Update

I feel weird updating now that I've already decoded the codes!

However, I can say that I am doing informal at two houses that I love. They have beds open winter quarter so I'm guessing I'll know before Christmas break.
