Also, never asked my doctor, but what if you conceived, but you were still taking the pill everyday at the same time? Wouldn't that screw the baby up? How does that go?

The pamphlets on the pill say that it will be less effective for women over 198 lbs. I have no idea what the percentage is, but I'm opening up a new one tomorrow, so I'll check.

here ya go ladies. This is the Planned Parenthood national site. It has a pro/con section on BC (that's what I directly linked to). It includes all the popular forms as well as other forms.

Thoughts on going off the pill:
The PMS has been a little worse but nothing I can't deal with. However, I have no freakin' clue when my period is coming anymore. I'm going to have to start writing it down because I can never remember.

Soooo... I got off Depo because I was gaining weight and figured since I wasn't dating, what was the point.
Now I just read that side effects from Depo can last up to 12 weeks after you get off the shot. While on the shot, I stopped having my period. I still haven't gotten it back yet and it's been almost 2 months since I got off.
The thing is that I am dating again. And I wanted to try going on the pill again, but I only can start the pill with a period... which I am not having!
I don't think I have ever wanted my period more than I do now. Weird.

Does anyone else get cramps the week AFTER their period? I go cramp free, and then the week after I get these annoying cramps.

Have you thought about going on the Pill? I'm surprised your OB-GYN hasn't suggested that, or some way to alleviate cramps if they're that bad.

they don't last long. maybe close to an hour. not a straight hour of non stop cramping. just a tightening that has moments of heightened pain. then it goes away and i am fine.

Ohhh honey I feel for you, honestly. That's why i went back on birth control. Every 4th day of my period I got cramps just like that. Like an explosion of pain and I'd feel nauseous and wanting to die.
Birth control is love.

Definitely happy with my patch

I'm on Depo and a huge fan. However, I've heard of really bad reactions to the birth control method and that everyone has really varied reactions to the shot. My doctor let me know that I should not start the method unless I was committed to it. He also let me know that statiscally, I would probably gain 10 pounds. It took a year for the spotting to stop (one week of spotting four weeks after I got the shot) but now, just the other week, I remembered that I have not had menstral cramps for two years. And before I started, he let me know that after I stopped the injections, it was going to take a full year before my cycle returned to normal. I have a great reaction to the medicine and its really easy to take the time to get the shot four times a year - it forces me to take a half day from work and enjoy a morning!
And I didn't gain any weight. But from gossip I've heard from friends, I think my positive reaction to the birth control was a little uncommon.
