I would like to, before I die, see Baylor beat a good Big XII team. No offense to Kansas and the other red headed step children of the conference football teams. Oh yea, that was 3 years ago.
Sorry, but right now, A&M does not look like a good Big XII team.

Utah destroyed them.

Fran is going to be some trouble unless he turns things around.

ok.

I will freely admit, last thursday's game led to a massive drinking campaign by Kitso.

BUT, Utah is a top 20 team. A&M was playing on the road, played 20 kids who were either true or RS fish, and the Utes whole season was riding on this game. Sure, we could have started the season with Bowling Green, Western Illinois or Western Kentucky(Diva, i still heart you babe ) but what would that have shown about our team? I'd much rather take 20 point loss on the road to a top 20 team than a 50 point pasting of a school that should be playing the University of South Dakota(W. Ill and W. Ken)

Is A&M going to compete with t.u. or OU for the South title this year? Most likely not. Will we be lucky to beat Tech? sure. BUT, as my esteemed colleague from Waco has insinuated, with our possibly worst team in the past 20 years, we still beat the Teddies by 63ish. A&M has not lost to Baylor in 19 years. I don't see it happening this year, truthfully.

As far starang and his comment about "Armchair QUarterbacks", i'm sorry that you didn't attend a school where the students/alums take a seriously vested interest in the football teams success. As an Aggie, I AM the 12th Man. The louder I yell at home games, the better chance my team has of winning. I along with 30,000 students stood for every home game, signaling to Coach Slocum that i was ready to enter the game if need be. I went to practice yells at Kyle Field every Friday at midnight with the same 30,000 of my closest friends, i took road trips to Dallas, Waco, Boulder, New Orleans to show my support. I stayed after home losses to practice yells to inspire the team to victory the next week. I stayed after wins to chase yell leaders and practice yells to inspire the team to victory the next week. I was there when Bonfire fell in '99 and 12 Aggies were forever lost. I was there a week later when a somber A&M team and student body took on a higher ranked t.u. team and sent them home with a loss. I spent the past 10 years of my life at every home game in College Station. I am NOT an Armchair Quarterback. I am a devoted son of a devout football school. There is a difference. I'm a Fightin Texas Aggie, Give me Room.

As for those that bash A&M or laugh at our downtimes. Get your licks in now, because when this shit gets turned around, we're not going to be content with Big XII South titles like Mack. We're goin for the whole damn enchilada.

77-0 will not be forgotten. Vengence may not be ours this year, next year, the year after, or the year after that, but we will avenge that loss and it will be in spectacular fashion.

"I've seen 'em win and i've seen 'em lose, but i've never seen 'em quit."

10-1 is my goal now.

come on, man...seriously. excuses are....

actually, i did go to a school where football is taken quite seriously...though, not the be all and end all. last time i checked, purdue wasn't too bad...not too far behind the utes. i'm a michigan fan, though. it was a joke, you might want unloosen your panties.

lol, who knew a simple comment would actually affect you people that much. i guess a little sensitivity goes a long way. i can talk football like the day is long, but really in the big scheme of things..it's not something that i really revolve my life around. we ALL are armchair quarterbacks....even those who think they're the unofficial 12th man.

Just to defend the Sooners and your comment on Bowling Green, yes, it's tough to take anyone named Bowling Green seriously, but last year, they were an 11-2 team, played Ohio State close at Ohio State. They also won their Bowl Game.

They're every bit as good as the Utes, probably better.

That being said, I attended the 77-0 game. I was impressed that the Aggies there did not pack up and leave at halftime when they were already down by around 50 points. Their yells were very nice and the band was amazing -- much better than the OU band whose shows now consist of standing in place and scatter drills (something my girlfriend-band teacher despises).

You have to respect the Aggie football tradition. It is like no other. Even with the score as lopsided as it was, I was impressed by everything except the players and coaches on the field.

McNeal is a hell of an athlete. He showed that when A&M whooped OU a couple of years ago under Slocum. In fact, Fran is making Slocum look like Landry right now.

I do think that Baylor has a decent chance against the Aggies this year if A&M continues like they have been. Heck, Abilene Christian could give 'em a run for their money. For now, I'm hopeful that this is all part of the Fran master plan that will unfurl this year with a win over UT. Otherwise, A&M is a big reason that the CFB world is saying that the Big XII is down.

A&M really is my 2nd favorite team in the Big XII and I hope y'all win all your games but one.

As for being an armchair QB, damned skippy. If y'all ever came to this part of the country on a Friday night where everyone is at the HS games or on a Saturday where the state literally shuts down when the Sooners are playing, you'd see what I'm talking about.

You my friend can be an Armchair Quarterback or, if you want to call a spade a spade, a bandwagon fan if you wish.

No, Purdue's not bad, but do you want to compare your "football school" to my football school?

1 MNCs to 0
18 conference champs to 7
27 bowl games to 11.

Yeah, i guess if my school's biggest tradition was a big drum, i'd be too ashamed and root for a rival too.

Good God. I don't care how bad things get with A&M, i will never call myself a fan of t.u., Tech or OU.

Football may not be the be all, end all of existence, but my love of being an Aggie is. Pardon me for feeling passionate about those fellow Ags who go out and represent me on the gridiron every Saturday.

And, just FYI, Aggies aren't the "unofficial" 12th Man. That term has been an A&M tradition snice 1922 and the copyright is owned by Texas A&M. But, you not knowing that shows exactly how much you know about college football.

i could care less if you think that purdue football history doesn't match up to TAMU's. it's irrelevant. seriously, you're not insulting anyone here. and we're still better right now that TAMU. my school's academic tradition is something i'd rather boast about. oh yea..and rod woodson. i can't believe that your panties are actually in a bind about this. i bet you're sitting behind the computer screen trying to figure out a way to insult the football program of my alma mater. i can't even believe you're trying to insult my knowledge on college football. please, tell me you're not that stupid. tamu football history or even the program itself doesnt mean shit to me. oh yea..tamu has NOTHING ON MICHIGAN. in no way is purdue a michigan rival. before i got to school...we were hot garbage for like 10 years. only rival we could ever have is the bottom feeding hoosiers.

<-----didn't choose my school because of the football program.

First off, Mizzou's(overrated) loss to Troy last night was pathetic as was Brad Smith's(overrated) performance. Heisman hopes=gone.

Second, It's Texas week and saturday night can't get here soon enough. It will the most electric crowd in Razorback history at the stadium. Should be a one hell of a game.

Yah that Mizzou loss was bad. That should knock them out of the top 25 easily.

hands down it's the SEC. The new ACC hasn't played a season yet, hard to judge them, still think they're top 2. The Big XII only has 3 teams worth a damn. Texas, OU, K State. Most of the conference are whipping boys for those 3. Baylor, Iowa St., Kansas, Mizzou, Tech. At best they look to be the 4th best conference in the country. SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big XII.

I'm torn.

I always like to see Texas lose.

But I love for them to be unbeaten when OU plays them also.

I'm not sure how I feel about this game.

I dunno. It'll be easier to figure it out later in the season. We've seen maybe one or two games out of everyone against crappy teams ('cept Mizzou).

I was wishing OU played Missouri this year.

But alas.

They kept showing Smith's great game against Oklahoma -- his defining moment. Yeah, Mizzou lost. How would you like that to be your defining moment?

It pains me to say it, but Troy State was the best team on the field yesterday.

It was FSU's defense that folded like a cheap set of cards in the final seconds of the 4th quarter.

Miami always seems to pull this game out of their asses.

Well yes but he blew it in overtime. A snap he should have had or at least picked up.
