Yeah, this is a common misconception often heard by soft-ass people who live in the suburbs and whos only connection or experience with life in the inner city is owning the new Ludacris album. In reality, there are very few 'Americans' who want/need benefits who don’t get them. The people who don’t get them are usually the people who don’t apply for them. I worked in public assistance for 3 years in college. Saw the system first hand. Know what I am talking about. Also, as Valkyrie said, calling someone a wetback (which there’s no river they have to cross to get into California - just a fence) is not only an offensive epithet, but incorrect and just made me loose a lot of respect for you. I can’t believe someone would think that it was right to deny kids an education, and that only certain types of people have the right to better their lots in life. I'm also willing to bet that whoever told you they got better and priority financial aid because they were illegal, was like you, talking out their ass. See, I am not xenophobic, so I wasn’t afraid to make friends with the people of other skin colors that I went to college with who weren’t from the US. I learned that for the non-citizen students, they were ineligible for most of the governmentally backed financial aid.

Yeah, lastly. What language did your ancestors speak? Why don’t you go back there? Something to think about; you are where you are because years ago, somebody allowed immigrants, like your family to come into this country. Personally, if the foreigners are just here to work, and are doing jobs that other Americans wouldn't do, more power to them. I don't have a problem with them working.

I only say that because I see countless people every day on the street with signs that are probably citizens but not doing anything but beg me for my hard earned money. Not to sound mean or insensitive or anything, but isn't there something those people could be doing to help stimulate the economy? Even if it is just picking fruit or something.

one last thing.. did you ever see that low-budget flick "A Day Without a Mexican"? You should rent it at Blockbuster some time to see some of the things they do for the economy There are so many AMERICAN CITIZENS who sit on their butts all day and do nothing but pop out kids for more welfare money... at least these illegal immigrants are doing things to help stimulate an economy that isn't even their own.

Mr. AXO works with the most hardworking man who is an illegal from Mexico. He has been in this country for 15 years working to support his dad who is a farmer in Mexico. The man is a great man - he is a very good friend, and he always takes care of his business. They tried to petition on his behalf to get a work Visa, but thanks to more red tape, it wasn't possible without him getting deported back.

Its a very sad life to lead - he knows that he cannot go back and see his father, or his siblings. He knows that he needs the work here to support them, and quite frankly, it makes me mad to see him being treated like crap, when a friend of mine just took 2 years unemployment because she liked hanging out with nothing to do.

It amuses me when people don't think about what they are saying.
1] Illegal Immigrants are people who are here illegally, they should not be allowed to stay. They should have to fill out whatever forms& go through whatever bueracratic B.S. to stay here. I do think they should make it a little easier, but that's a different conversation.
2] I totally understand& agree with the reasons why they want to come to America& I'm not saying, keep all immigrants out, but think about it, most of our ancestors did follow the proper channels to migrate here. Think Ellis Island.

Why should we cater to people who should not be here? Does the government grow marijuana for people to smoke it illegally? Do gun manufacturers post ads in prisons?
No, b/c in no other part of society do we cater to people who have broken our laws.

Okay, let's address this logically.

The relevance of your opinion has nothing to do with what threads you participate in on GC. It's hard to take someone seriously when she is presenting an argument that includes racial slurs and grammatical mistakes that a seventh grader wouldn't make.

Please give me one example of how your rights have been pushed aside or ignored because of someone who is in the U.S. without the required paperwork.
