Prayers for my mama, again!! Seems that the one drug that she was given for her heart bypass has a little side effect - potential blindness!!!! WhyOhWhyOhWhy the FDA approved this, I don't know!!

Anyhow, my brother took her to a fairly routine appointment, and she's having emergency surgery right now (it may even be over!). We are asking for prayers that her complete vision would be restored to at least her pre-op state (or better). I know that God inhabits the prayers of His people, and I thank each of you who take a moment to pray for my mama (Dixie Lee)!

and some peace for her, my brother, & me!
She's home, and they did laser surgery on her eye. Get this - the medication that they use to define where to laser is SO potent, she can't go outside without being completely covered, including a hat & scarf on her face, or she risks Third Degree burns!! She will have to live in a dark world for 5 days, then her system should be okay to go out.

There's a 1% chance that she'll have a complete restoration of her vision, I forget the rest of the statistics, but we're STILL praying that she doesn't lose her sight!!!

Honey, I'll be sending prayers upwards for your mama.

Brandi, I will pray for you also. Insurance companies boggle my mind. The Dr. has the MD, not the companies. That is insane.

more prayers!

I was leaving my Dr's office on Wed, when I called my mom to confirm what we've known all along: overwork has caused me to become stressed and anxious. I learned that my grandmother had fallen, fractured her skull and broken bones in her neck. It was just a matter of time. Compound this with my father's upcoming surgery to remove the cancer, and my precarious job situation.... my grandmother ended up on the same hospital floor as my dad, and my poor mom was running back and forth.

On Thursday, my grandmother passed away. On Friday, we learned that my father's surgery was successful and the cancer hadn't spread. On Saturday, I placed a resignation letter on my boss's chair. And on Sunday, I came home. Now, I'm back in LA, finishing out my work and packing up my apartment. I'm taking a 2 month sabbatical and coming back to the east coast. In the interim, I'll be driving cross-country and traveling to NYC, Florida and DC for a while until I settle down and persue my next avenue of interest: a career in magazine writing.

Thank you, sisters, for your continued prayers and encouragement.

Thanks Mel! Dad called today. Looks like on second analysis, one of his lymph nodes is cancerous, and he's starting radiation in a couple of weeks.

I want to tear my hair out and laugh at the same time. The director of Chairs for Alum Development called today to check in on me. Because I'm moving, I am resigning my position as Alum Collegiate Relations Dir.

So... any of you District 6 alumna ladies out there interested in taking on my old office? Email me at allaboutadpi@yahoo.com and let's chat.

Also, I am going to be flying one of my chapter sisters out here at the end of the month and we're driving back to Florida together with another friend (an alpha who dropped before initation years ago-- almost a sister!)-- any ideas for a fun route? I don't want to take on Texas again!

I'll be doing some traveling over the next couple of months. It would be wonderful to meet some of you in person!

I guess a swing through Ohio & Pennsylvania would make that a REALLY long trip...

If you wind up swinging through the San Diego area as you drive out of California, I'd love to meet you before you move to the other side of the country!

I'll be thinking of you and your family during these next few stressful weeks!

Thanks everyone! Polar, I have a chapter sister coming into town the week prior, so we may take a day trip to SD! I'll let you know!

The next few months are a whirlwind! My last week of work is this week, then 2 weeks off to pack things up, travel in LA and entertain with friends, say goodbye, I'll take about 10 days to drive from LA to Orlando, in order to have a proper roadtrip. Then 1 week in Central Florida, followed by 1 week in South Florida. Then, off to VLS, and then a week each in NYC and DC. Then back to Ft. Lauderdale and hopefully, some clarity into where I will be next!

Your prayers and warm wishes are appreciated during this time! I'm nervous and excited and worried and happy all at once.

I wish I could remember this properly, but the Chinese character for Catastrophe is a combination of those for crisis and opportunity. (Don't quote me, but it is something very similar, if not correct!)

Anyhow, I hope that this time of catastrophe becomes filled with opportunity for you, adpiucf!! Bon Voyage!

Please pray for my little man "geronimo." I found out today that he seems to have the affects of heart disease. The vet referred me to a specialist, but informed me that most dogs diagnosed don't live more than a year or two after diagnosis. Even though he is 10 and has lived a long happy life, I'm just not ready to part with him yet. I thought I would have a couple more years before any of this would start.

Ill be praying for you and your doggie. Its so sad because they are part of your family and you feel like they are your kids. You dont want to see them leave or suffer. I hope something can help him and work out for you.

My prayers for Geronimo, and you, Sherra. Losing a beloved pet is just about the same as losing a sibling, at least, in my book.
