Themes
Sounds like lots of fun themes, I can't wait to hear about all the rest of the parties!
What is chapter total at U of M? Are all the houses about the same size? Sorry-- I have so many questions!
You find out tomorrow what your schedule is for second round, right? You better let us know as soon as you get it-- we'll all be waiting.
Keep having fun, that's the best advice you can get :-)

Chapter Total at the U of Mich is 120. There are a variety of sizes of chapters though. They ranged in size (before Recruitment) from 37 to 100. The average size is 80 right now. Last year, 735 registered for FR, but only 533 women matched. I don't know how many dropped out and how many were cut.

That's Huge!
Whoah! 100 girls before recruitment? That's huge-- I don't get how there can even be sisterhood with sororities that large... Seems to me like you wouldn't really get to know everyone nearly as well in those big houses as you would if you joined one of the smaller ones where sisterhood is probably key. Then again, everyone joins a sorority for different reasons! I guess you should just keep in mind that just because a house is bigger, doesn't necessarily mean it is better.

So a question from that....what is the biggest chapter total that some of you have heard of? at Michigan the chapter totals have a ceiling of 120.
Lisa, can't wait to hear from ya!

Some of UCF's chapters have about 180 to 200 girls.

At Truman state ours are at like 108, but we have been trying to get it lowered for years due to declining rush numbers.
At SLU I think total is at or above 150 but that was a few years ago I heard that.

I don't know what suggested attire is for Second Set, but I encourage you to go into both days planning, as you put it, to "wow 'em." How many rush threads have we seen on here where a PNM was leukwarm about a house after First Set and wound up being a gung-ho NM of that very same house at the end of the week? You never know what could happen. I'd advise you not to write anyone off just yet.
That said, have an THRILLING Thursday and a FABULOUS Friday! Good luck!

I second kappa kitty cat's advice... you may think right now that one of your thursday houses is only "okay" but who knows-- you might be their favorite girl, and they might become your favorite house!
I know when I went through recruitment, the houses I originally thought were the ones for me most certainly turned out not to be-- and I'm completely happy with where I ended up (which after mixers I had originally written off this house as not being "cool" enough for me but in the end these are the girls that seemed the most read to me, and it is the place I feel at home)
So make sure you are looking at houses for the right reasons... Find girls that you can be goofy with and not feel like you have to censor your thoughts... Find girls that you can cry with and not feel like you have to be alone.... Find girls that you will hold onto forever, not just during your college years. Find the girls that will be your true friends-- not just a popularity boost because of the name of the house or who they party with.

For those of you who wanted to know which houses i cut/got cut from:
Teal: A E Phi
Brown: D Phi E
Purple: Theta
Black: Kappa
Gold: SDT
I didn't mean to be snotty about what i posted earlier, I definitely plan on giving all the houses a chance, i'm just more excited about some than others. That said, i wont deny that there are some i would never join and would rather be non-greek. I think everyone should know their limits, situations and atmospheres in which they fit, and shouldnt try to be something they aren't, and thats how i feel about a few of the houses i got back. Anyway, my plan is to, as my mom always say, kill 'em with kindness and hope for the best.
