In this week's People they talked to Luther's personal assistant. He talked about working with him before and during his illness. I enjoyed the story, but made me sad because Luther is gone.

Has anyone else read the story?

New Luther album to be released (AP)

LOS ANGELES Jun 19, 2006 (AP)— There's new Luther Vandross music on the way. Fans of the legendary singer, who died in July, can enjoy two new tracks when "The Ultimate Luther Vandross" collection is released Aug. 22.

It includes the previously unissued songs "Shine," produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and "Got You Home."

The collection features 16 other songs from Vandross' two decades of music-making, including the hits "Here and Now" and "Endless Love."

Vandross sold more than 30 million albums during his award-winning career. Vandross, who began his career as lead singer of the group Change, made his solo recording debut in 1981 with the album "Never too Much." In 2005, he was nominated for a Soul Train Music Award for a duet with Beyonce on "The Closer I Get to You," which is on the new collection.

I heard his new song "Shine" today. It has a nice old school sound to it. I can't believe it's almost been a year.

Yes indeed. I have his Live at Radio City Music Hall cd (2003) that is amazing. I need to put it in my disc changer. Wish I could've seen him in concert.

I have that as well and it's awesome...i will say this much you missed a great performer...I can't tell you how many times I saw him in concert. I remember once I saw him home in Philly, and then I was inb B-more and saw him there, and then I was in DC and saw him there....umm and mind you this was all in one week....yeah he was just that good.
