UT System Schools

UT Brownsville is in Brownsville. UT Pan Am is in Edinburgh, about an hour to the west (just north of McAllen).

Just thought I'd throw that bit of information out there.

Expansion News

In the fall of 2004, Lambda Chi Alpha will be expanding to the following campuses. Fresh off of www.lambdachi.org

Eastern Washington University
University of Idaho
St. Louis College of Pharmacy
University of Utah
Weber State University
York College of Pennsylvania

As predicted in many of my previous posts- some of these in Utah came true. The York College thing shocked me, the first new chapter in Pennsylvania in aver 13 years (Millersville being the last one)

I'd also add the following (all contigent on how well Calgary goes):

University of British Columbia - an established greek community
University of Ottawa/Carleton University - capital and student town with a growing greek community since the early 90's

Calgary happened... still a Colony though (some of the guys were at GA); they should be getting their charter around the same time Calgary hosts the CIFC (Canadian Inter Fraternal Conference) so I'm going to try arrange to be in town for that event .

Didn't these chapters loose their charters in the last year to two years ago? So will they be brought back so soon? Don't get me wrong i hope they are.

I suspect that these would happen around 2006.

Again just a thought based on the Cross and Crescent and the national website.

Lightbulb

One that has not been mentioned is Gamma, Amhearst.

There were two young men who were invited by Brother Kilmek that are a Local, Delta Omega if memorie serves.

They are living in the Old LXA House there with @ 24 members.

They were approached by Alums of Gamma Zeta to pay for an Alum Gathering for either FD or Home Coming at the house.

They were given a huge yes.

Hopefuly it will transpre from there with their invitation, Introduction, and meeting a lot of Brothers at G A!

lifesaver and I sat with them for dinner one evening and are great young men who wish to affiliate with LXA. Jono also sat with them and found them great young men.

While I have mentioned to John Otten about Shorter College, Rome Ga. there seems to be a lot on his plate.

He will be looking into it in the future. I gave him a contact and they have been conversing.

Lenoxx, I had not seen that on site and thanks for posting it.

When I started BX a local in 1965, the Old Line Nationals were not into expansion, but LXA was and still is.

That is one very big reason LXA is and will be the best.

Tooting The Big Horn!

----------------------**************

Lenoxxx, where in LXA Site did you find the listings??

I think colonization at community colleges is good and bad. Its good for HQ because they get their money....but i dont like it because personally, I dont want everyone and their mom in this fraternity. I mean whats the point? Im glad we are a top 5 fraternity, and fastest growing, etc etc...but I want there to be some exclusivity. I mean one of the perks of going to a 4-year college is fraternity life...why "downgrade" it to community colleges. I wouldnt want to see any of the guys at the community college from my hometown sporting our letters. I dont get it...Lambda Chi Alpha is supposed to set the standard....now lower it. If we colonize at JCs...we should lower the GPA requirement as well. Its a hell of a lot harder to pull a 2.25 as a Bio major at say...UCLA, or some other good school..compared to...Bakersfield College, or Podunk Community College in the backwoods of Mississippi.

Thumbs down Community colleges?

I have some serious misgivings about going to the local comunity college.

1. There is no culture of greek societies at community colleges.
2. The local college administrators may not understand what we're about.
3. Some CC students will never go to the "Big U"
4. We're having a difficult time supporting chapters at four year schools.
5. Upon transfer where do the students go? Do they go to a four year with an existing Zeta? Will they want to form another chapter at the school that they transfer to if it lacks a Zeta? If so, see #4

That having been said, I could see some experimentation if a particular JC had a strong feed to a school with an existing Zeta, but the experiment would have to be regulated to see if it actually makes sense.

I just dont like it..period. JC or community college....theres a privelege for making it into a UNIVERSITY...and thats fraternity life. "Downgrading" to a community college would make us look like some mickey mouse organization. I mean we might as well change our name to LCA Club and let girls join while were at it.

I'd like to have some prestige to the name of Lambda Chi Alpha. Let TKE and Sig Ep go to community college...they will just end up being the butt of every joke in the greek world. (No offense to any sigeps or tkes.)

Well, no one has to worry about the CC thing, because the bill authorizing it didnt pass at GA this summer.

We can talk about a bunch of other things that arent going to happen too if ya would like.

Lambda Chi Colony on the Moon. Discuss.

Now, lets get back to topic.
