Didn't like the last 1/3 of Mockingjay. It started out great, but toward the end too many things happened all at once. And, I like that it ends on a more positive note, but not when it only happens on the very last page. Like it was an afterthought.
Agreed. I thought the last like 1/8th of the book was a dream sequence (after the bombs explode and on) but then I realized it couldn't have been because it was going on far too long. Definitely not my favorite series' endings. I also felt like she opened up a lot of themes about war, violence, and injustice and then never did anything about them. Like it just ended. Oh well.

In other news, Francis Lawrence has been confirmed as the director for Catching Fire. Previous credits include 'I Am Legend' and 'Like Water for Elephants'. I'm excited to see what he does with it.

I kind of wish that SC gave more info on why Katniss, after all those years with Peeta, agreed to have children, especially when she was so adament against it. I mean the explanation in the book of "he wanted them so badly" just doesn't cut it for me. I understand how it ended, but the epilogue was kind of out there.

I might need to reread the books before the movies come out. I read the whole trilogy last summer.

But she was adamant against it because of the games and that wasn't an issue any longer.

Ditto on this! I always pictured her as Naya Rivera but from what I've seen in terms of actresses coming in for casting, they are going are very different way.

On IMDB.com Jena Malone is listed as playing Johanna Mason...apparently she was offered the part but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The actor who plays Sebastian on Glee just confirmed that he auditioned for the role of Finnick. So I'm guessing we might know within the next month who it is. The whole cast has to be pretty much assembled as shooting starts in November (as Jennifer has to start shooting the 2nd X-Men movie in January).

The article, albeit from the examiner, stated that Jenna Malone has officially accepted the role of Johanna.

And of course Mockingjay will be 2 movies (because they need to make as much money as possible). Looks like from now on the movies will be a year apart in November. Anticipated Catching Fire release is November 2013. Mockingjay pt 1 is November 2014 and Mockingjay part 2 is 2015.

Although, I'm not sure why they need two movies for Mockingjay. It's not like the book was super long like Breaking Dawn or Harry Potter. The whole book could easily be in one movie.

I keep reading that Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund are on the short list. I've also seen Alan Ritchson's and Trevor Donovan's names floated (though Perez Hilton says Donovan is out). Without commenting on the acting chops of the latter two, they certainly have the look of how I pictured Finnick.

It should definitely be one movie, unless they plan to flesh out the last third of the book more.

I am DYING to see who will play Finnick!! My office is obsessed with the books so we're basically casting them constantly (and 50 shades of grey, but that's a whole 'nother monster). We've basically agreed that we wanted Jensen Ackles to find a time machine and make himself 8-10 years younger and then he'd be a perfect Finnick. But as for a realistic guess/actor, we don't have one. Oh well.

I'm also desperate to know who's playing Finnick. I'm insanely into The Hunger Games. Several of my friends actually call me Katniss. haha. I also want to know who's playing Johanna Mason! and Beetee!

We might have a Finnick and I'm not happy...he was so one-note and BLAND in Snow White and the Huntsman. I get that he's no "girl-on-fire", but I thin he's supposed to be a bit more of a roaring ocean and charismatic guy than a limp, lifeless puddle.

Not entirely sure how reliable this is but it's all over the interwebs, and is beginning to look more and more legitimate.
