I joined Sigma Kappa but won't tell who the other sororities are because it doesn't really matter. And the campus rankings have changed a bit anyway since I rushed well over 20yrs ago.

It's like Lake Woebegon where the children are all above average.

I think the vast majority of PNMs are on an even keel- similar grades, similar activities in HS, similar style, similar clothes, all have recs, etc. There are far fewer "stars" and far fewer less desirables. The marjority are not average by any stretch of the imagination.

Not sure if I should start a new thread, but it kind of goes along with the "no average PNM" theme. I received a packet with a resume that has many things that are complete fabrications. I KNOW they are not true, because I am involved in many of the activities she listed and she has NOT held the leadership positions she put on the resume.

I sent her mom (who is an acquaintance - I don't even know her phone number) an email and said I had some concerns, but she has never replied. I have her email because we are on some of the same group emails.

It makes me wonder how many resumes are more than a little puffed up. This one was truly unbelievable.

Sissy, please do start a thread on that! I know schools where if lying PNMs were found out, they would be cut from recruitment in microseconds.

Well, she pledged a group that is widely considered to be a top group at UT Austin. I did not write her a rec and my sister/friend wrote a "do not recommend" form for our sorority which did not extend her an invitation. This same friend called her mom about the highly inflated resume and her mom said it was none of her business and she was letting her daughter handle "all that."

She has struggled and when some girls (future PNMS) went down to visit last year they were told by her "sisters" not to hang with her on the visit because she was on her group's radar to ask to leave to because of potential drug/alcohol abuse.

Yeah for getting a "top" house and being too good for my chapter there!

So there are all sorts of funny internet listicle and memes about rbf or resting bitch face, but behind the humor, it really is true. Some people when they're not talking or laughing, look tired, mean, or disinterested. To head that off at the pass, keep an image of something happy that makes you smile in your head. It can be your dog chasing his tail, the guy you have a crush on, beautiful sunset at the beach, whatever. It will show through on your face.

What ummm? There are several posts in the thread about making sure you don't look negative or disinterested. You're not going to be talking every single minute.
