I have been waiting for weeks to post this exchange.....
I am the moderator of an alumni group for my high school, over 1400 members to date. I noticed that there was another, much much smaller group out there. I asked the dude if he would consider just joining my group as a moderator. He said sure. (Would rather absorb his group than confuse the alums with two)
The same day, he and I had the following exchange:
Subject:
Frad attempt of Coolidge alums
He: We have some invites that should not be on the list due to the fact that are not offically alumnus yet from Coolidge,but check them to have them removed.
Senusret I: This group welcomes students who are not yet alums. If they stay in the group, it makes the transition seamless and they really look up to the alumni. S_____ R_____ [an alumnus and current employee of the school] did a good job at inviting a lot of the recent alumni and current students.
He: Yea but the true definition of the word alum is graduate,just like in a rite of passage since they have not achieved that rite of passage it would be wrong to consider in as such. No college would allow this to go on why should we even if we are talking about on a high school.
Senusret I: I'm sorry if I led you to believe that this topic was debatable.
He: I cannot endorse such a wrongful doing I request that removed as adminstrator. This goes what is right vs. wrong
He graduated four years BEFORE me.
