It's not a good thing.

Oh! Maybe that's what poloandpearls was talking about? I guess that would make more sense. I apologize, poloandpearls, for semi-snarking at your fashion sense.

I have seen plenty of people wear a polo with a suit.

And to whomever it was that mentioned that "true" Southern women don't wear open-toed shoes in the spring...then you must not think Charleston is a "true" Southern city 'cause we've all been wearing open-toed shoes for at least a month...

They probably gel their hair and wear wifebeaters.

Do you mean a sportcoat and slacks or an actual suit?

He also lets his 3-series BMW key dangle out of his pocket so you KNOW he has a sweet ride.
He may also have a cell phone belt clip.

To avoid confusion, here is what I am talking about :
This should not be worn under a suit. And, the model's torso is a little too long for this shirt. I'd at least make sure the knit is covering my middriff.
Killarney, it's okay. I should have specified in my previous post. When I say polo shirt, it could mean a knit or an oxford. I will be more specific for y'all next time.
To utealum: I'm not sure where you are originally from, but wearing closed toe shoes are a pain when it's pushing 95 degrees in March & April. If you are living in New York or a place where it does not warm up until May, I'm sure the closed toe rule applies for you, but it's too damn hot down south for that rule to apply today.
Okay, it seems like every aspect has been covered in this thread, I'm done!

I agree. You can chop off the "party in the back" while he's sleeping

Ah, that's another thing I was raised not to do (besides flouting seasonal rules for my convenience/comfort): wear shirts with other people's initials and/or logoes on them. So when I hear "polo," I would never have thought "oxford."
(P.S. with your logic, you'll be baring that midriff soon enough once it's hot enough.)
