Well, yeah, they do. And so they don't get damaged or whatever either. I don't see anything wrong with it. But greek life is different in the South, and while I don't condone a 'uniform' for Southern greeks, it's just what a lot of the guys down south wear.

And this isn't directed at valkyrie, but everyone who's reading this... I think this thread is beating a dead horse. Style is different in all regions of the country. What is big out on the West Coast is totally different from what's big in the South, and that in turn is totally different than what's big up North. Whenever I travel to see my sister in San Diego, I wish I had packed more Roxy and little teeny skirts, because that's what they wear. Even here in Florida, my style is more preppy than most, unless you're on Palm Beach.

Nothing gives me the right to make fun of or look down on how the people dress down here in south Florida, because cultures are different, trends are different everywhere you go. Just because I prefer the more laid-back, preppy look that's big in the South doesn't mean I can't appreciate fashion that's big in other parts of the country. And just because you don't understand the outdoorsy, traditional Southern culture doesn't mean you can make fun of it either.

BTW, I thought wallet chains were cool in like 1995, maybe? lollers.

Wallet chains were cool, like, never.

Here's the thing. I wouldn't have said jack about the fashion follies of our southern friends if people hadn't carried on about cutting rushees for wearing shirts with moose on them and implying that they're better than anyone because they wear whatever they wear and saying that clothing=class and what not. Once you act like an ass, I'm going to make fun of you, period. I'll sing a round of fashion-inclusive Kumbaya with people who don't act like tools on the interweb.

Well I agree with you. Boasting about who you do and don't cut on the interweb is, well, tooly. But I wouldn't doubt a lot of fraternities cutting on the basis of clothes. But most really 'good' fraternities should have their boys pinned before they walk across the stage to get their high school diploma.

So now wearing Rainbows is part of being preppy? I guess its cool out there now?

I remember going to a convention in 2001 and these people from Alabama, Mississippi and Kentuckywere wondering what they were. infact, they all made fun of Rainbows because of the name of the brand. You can imagine what they said

Your mom left her havaianas by my bed and I think I left my Rainbows in the bushes by her bedroom window bro. Can you swing by and return them?

lol. yeah, I've been wearing them since about '02, maybe? I'm on my second pair, they last forever. I still wear my Reefs sometimes too. I think Clarks Wallabees are still big too. But I haven't been up there (as in Tuscaloosa) since last June, so things may have changed. When I started college in '01, everyone was wearing the Birk clogs.

I wear Kangaroos. I'd never make it into a good southern sorority.

Croakies serve a very reasonable purpose. Yeah, they're very useful for us who fish, but they're useful all the time really. It makes you much less likely to lose or damage your sunglasses, which is nice when they're a couple hundred dollar investment. I understand they might not be fashionable where you are, but more than likely most guys there would get ignored by girls at a bar here for how they dress. Its not really just a southern thing either. Go anywhere where "preppy" people are, and you'll see them. For example, I saw them everywhere in DC this summer.

Thank for your help in getting my point across, sweets. And you're right, I think you'll find Croakies anywhere where the dress is more preppy and traditional, and anywhere that's near the water.

I love my pair of croakies. They're perfect for my ray-bans.

You do realize that every northerner/cali post on here is promoting the stereotype that many southerners have of those areas. Less classy, more rude (i see more rudeness on this board than fratty.net), more prone to "go clubbing" or whatever that GDI shit is.

It's nice to know you don't consider constant use of racial slurs rude.

Racial slurs aside, I guarantee the majority of people on this board still have problems with the southern greek life presented somewhat on fratty.net.

Yeah, I'm from the South and post on fratty.net once in a while, but I still get a great kick out of how seriously some of those guys take it. I always thought the whole Southern greek life attitude was sort of, you know, 'I don't give a crap,' and some of them seem to care way too much about what they're wearing and how they're presenting themselves. It makes me wonder if some of the confidence that seemed to exude from these guys on campus was a front, that they're really all extremely insecure. But others, I know, are just taking it to an extreme to satirize it all.
