Looking at that pic, it's not just you. JD and Janet Damita Jo sort of seem outcast.

I agree. I mean she really is more thick than chunky to me. I guess we more surprised that in Hollywood under the limelight she hasn't dropped her weight. I like her show too, its a guilty pleasure.

Patti's News 2.28.05

Most of this is repeats from earlier tidbits posted by other GCers:

What's going on with singer Gerald Levert? Gerald was arrested last
week and charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest
and assaulting a police officer. WHAT! NOT GERALD! The incident
happened in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Gerald was driving
downtown with friends when the incident happened. After getting into
it with the police, he was pepper sprayed, handcuffed and hauled off
to jail. Was Gerald hurt during the incident? At press time there was
still no word from his spokespeople. He is due in court later this
month. What really happened and is Gerald okay? In two weeks Gerald's
dad Eddie Levert is getting inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of
Fame with his group the O'Jays. Gerald worked very hard to get his
father inducted. Justin Timberlake will be doing the honors at the
ceremonies and the O'Jays will be in Atlantic City at the Tropicana
Casino on April 2nd. Will court problems keep Gerald away from his
dad's biggest night?

Halle Berry proved she's a good sport as she accepted her award for
"Worst Actress" at the Razzie Awards. The Razzie Awards celebrated the
worst films of the year and Halle's Catwoman won two awards--one for
Halle as "Worst Actress" and for "Worst Picture." As Halle accepted
her Razzie she clutched her Academy Award and she said she hopes to
never see these people again. On Sunday, March 6th Halle will be
starring in the Oprah Winfrey produced movie Their Eyes Were Watching
God, on ABC. Halle stars alongside Michael Ealy and Ruben Santiago
Hudson. Halle's ex-husband, singer Eric Benet, is plotting his
comeback. Eric has a new CD, The Hurricane, coming out in April. Eric
has a song on the album that he wrote just for Halle, apologizing for
all the hurt and pain he caused her. In an interview with Access
Hollywood Eric said he wants people to know that there is nothing
wrong with him and he also said he wishes his daughter and Halle were
still close. Eric's cheating destroyed his marriage to Halle. Will
another woman be able to trust him? Will he be faithful in his next
relationship?

So what's next for Oscar winners Jamie Foxx and Morgan Freeman? Jamie
is currently working on the Gulf War drama, Jarhead. That's why he has
been sporting that tattoo in the back of his head. He's also teaming
up with Colin Ferrell for the big screen version of the television
classic Miami Vice. Jamie will be playing "Detective Tubbs," the role
made famous by Philip Michael Thomas. Morgan Freeman is getting ready
to play South African leader Nelson Mandela in a new movie.

So who's the hottest man in Hollywood? The hottest man in Hollywood is
Tyler Perry! Yes, Tyler Perry is the man. His movie Diary of a Mad
Black Woman took in over $22 million at the box office. I am so happy
for him. The movie didn't get great reviews, but audiences came out in
record numbers to check out Tyler and "Madea." I loved this movie! You
will laugh, cry, and be inspired. Kimberly Elise is amazing as the
wronged wife. Steve Harris from The Practice plays a mean, no good
husband and Shemar Moore plays the perfect guy, the prince charming,
who saves the day. Tyler plays three roles in the movie. There's
"Madea," "Uncle Joe" and he plays an attorney "Brian" who is abandoned
by his wife and has to raise their children. Tyler is making another
"Madea" movie-- Madea's Family Reunion, which should be in theaters
next year.
**THIS IS MY 2nd favorite Madea play.**Tyler is also working on a new stage production "Madea Goes
to Jail," which should be in Philly later this year.

Isaac Hayes and Bill Withers are going to be inducted into the
Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 9th. Isaac Hayes is best known for
the songs "Shaft" and "Ellie's Theme." Bill Withers gave us the
classics "Ain't No Sunshine," "Lean on Me," "Lovely Day" and "Just the
Two of Us." Bill also wrote songs for Mick Jagger, Barbara Streisand,
Aretha Franklin and Tom Jones.

Congrats to Sisquo! He's going to be a dad. Sisquo of Dru Hill and
"Thong Song" fame has been dating pop star Samantha Mumba and they are
expecting their first child this summer.

Gospel sensation Yolanda Adams has a new album coming out on May 3rd
called, Day By Day. Yolanda has had to weather the storm over the past
year as she went through a painful divorce from former football player
Tim Crawford. Yolanda says she is relying on God to help her through
this difficult time. She has a young daughter and she has had to deal
with a meddlesome mother-in-law. Did infidelity play a part in the end
of the marriage? Did her ex-husband treat her bad? Yolanda won't say.
She says she knows a lot of churches frown on divorce, but ending the
marriage was the best thing for her and her family.

Babyface is getting his own reality show. The producer, singer, and
songwriter will be bringing together music "has-beens" for the show
Remix. Babyface will put the music "has-beens" through boot camp and
whoever survives will get a new recording contract.

What do Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez have in common? How about the
same manager? Benny Medina has his hands full with the two divas and
they can't stand each other. After being fired two years ago, Benny is
back with J-Lo. Benny made J-Lo a star, but she dumped him when she
hooked up with Ben Affleck. He will be overseeing her music career.
Her new album, Rebirth, is due out this week. Last year Mariah hired
Benny to salvage her career. Mariah needs a hit and a career boost and
she thinks Benny is the man to do it. Mariah has not been right since
Jennifer Lopez teamed up with Mariah's ex-husband, former Sony head
Tommy Mottolla, to steal Mariah's music. This sent Mariah over the
deep end. Mariah has hated Jennifer ever since and now they have the
same manager. What is Benny going to do? One diva can sing... one
can't. One diva can act…the other can't. Will the ladies force Benny
to make a choice? They both need a career lift. Look for Mariah on an
upcoming issue of Essence magazine.

It's baby number four for Holly Robinson Peete and her hubby football
star Rodney Peete. Holly's water broke at a Hollywood party honoring
Ebony Magazine and a few hours later a baby boy arrived.

Suede Magazine is no more. Suede was being billed as a younger version
of Essence magazine, but after four issues the magazine has folded.
High production costs were cited as a factor, but the magazine was a
mess. It was hard to read, the graphics were messy and the fashions
nothing to write home about. I wanted to like this magazine, but I
came away very disappointed. Vibe Magazine has a new spin-off devoted
to fashion and beauty called Vibe Vixen. I love this magazine. Vibe
Vixen will be published twice a year and it features all the latest in
beauty and fashion. Ciara is on the cover of the premier issue.

Gladys Knight says losing her cousin, Edward Patton, last week was
like losing a brother. 66 year old Edward Patton was one the Pips who
sang with Gladys and last week he died after suffering a stroke. Ed
was Gladys' cousin and he made up the Pips with her brother Bubba and
other cousin William Guests.

Is Chris Tucker dating Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child? According
to published reports they are and it was their religion, Christianity
that brought them together. Yes, Chris is saved now, but what happened
to the other woman the wife or baby momma that he had in Atlanta.
Hmmmmmmmm?

Raven Simone the star of the hit Disney Show That's so Raven has her
own fashion doll named after her.

Is that Damon Wayans in his underwear? Yes, he's starring in a new ad
campaign for Hanes Underwear.

Usher is going to be live on Showtime on the 5th. He's doing a
Showtime concert special live from Puerto Rico.

Remember Mark Curry from Hanging with Mr. Cooper? Well, Mark is
teaming up with Kirstie Alley as her love interest for the Showtime
series, Fat Actress. Kirstie bravely faces the cameras as a former
television beauty who is dealing with life in her new body as a fat
woman. She wants to work in Hollywood, but she is no longer the slim
beauty who became a star. Curry plays her boyfriend--the brother that
can appreciate a big wide booty.

At the movies this week it's Be Cool with John Travolta, Uma Thurman,
Cedric The Entertainer, Danny DeVito, Andre 3000 and Christina Milian.

Vin Diesel tackles children in the Disney family comedy, The Pacifier.
Diesel plays a Navy Seal who has to look after a family.

The Soul Train Awards air on March 12th. The show will be hosted by
Fantasia, Brian McKnight, Nick Cannon and the newly engaged Nicole
Richie.

The 36th Annual NAACP Image Awards air on March 25th on Fox. Barack
Obama, the new Senator from Illinois will be getting the night's
highest honor with the "Chairman Award." Prince will be getting the
"Vanguard Award."

The movie, Guess Who, with Bernie Mac, Zoe Saldana and Ashton Kutcher
opens in theatres on March 25th.

Queen Latifah's spin-off of the movie Barbershop, BeautyShop, opens in
theaters on March 30th. The movie also stars Alfre Woodard and Kevin
Bacon.

I also think that Raven being in the limelight is positive, but remember, we historically have less pressure to be thin than the dominant culture. We've always had room for the Halle Berrys and Jada Pinketts as well as the Mo'Niques and Queen Latifahs.

By contrast, white full-figured celebrities such as Roseanne and Kirstie Alley take a ton of s*** for being bigger.

Red face Oh dear...From Page Six

Photo of drag queen Flotilla DeBarge.

March 2, 2005 -- STAR Jones Reynolds is worried that the public won't be able to tell the difference between her and drag queen Flotilla DeBarge.
After PAGE SIX revealed that PETA had hired DeBarge to parody the fur-loving Reynolds in a new ad campaign, the corpulent co-host of "The View" sicced her lawyers on the animal-rights organization.

In a humorless letter to PETA, Jones' lawyers wrote: "While the First Amendment . . . protects legitimate parody, [it] does not sanction the misappropriation of a person's identity for purposes of trade or advertising . . . Thus, PETA does not have the right to use an impersonator . . . As you prepare your advertisements, we urge you to keep this distinction in mind."

But the lawyers are insulting Star, because their argument only makes sense if the public could actually mistake DeBarge for her. They seem to be saying their client resembles an overweight, 6-foot-tall drag queen.

PETA, uncowed, had its own lawyers fire back. "The legal positions in your letter are without merit and it appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to coerce PETA into silence about [Jones'] support for the cruel fur industry," PETA's letter notes.

"As you acknowledge, PETA possesses a right and indeed a duty in furtherance of its charitable animal protection mission, to speak out against your client's practice of wearing animal fur. As a public figure, she is subject to public criticism and parody by Ms. DeBarge and PETA for this conduct, and in no way does such speech constitute false advertising, false designation of origin, or misappropriation of identity.

"With all due respect, we cannot believe that Ms. Jones Reynolds would remain unmoved by the video footage we have in our possession of animals suffering greatly when killed for their fur. Therefore, we fervently hope that you will ask your client to meet with us and allow us to make our case to her on behalf of the animals and to present her with a beautiful faux fur."

As of last night, Jones Reynolds had not taken PETA up on its offer, and her rep said: "Ms. Reynolds and her attorney are continuing to monitor the situation."

PETA is still going ahead with the DeBarge ad campaign, which shoots today at an undisclosed location.

Ok, so I was sitting here watching Conan O'Brian and P. Diddy was on there. They were talking about Fosworth Bentley and how he has his own show coming out that Diddy is the producer for. Has anyone else heard about this??
Then they talked about how Diddy going to be the first black James Bond. I heard this but I thought that it was a rumor. Diddy says that he is dead serious about this and that the movie should be out in the next 20 months. He said that the character is going to be from Harlem and not from England/Britan(not too familiar with the Bond series). Diddy also said that he is going to change the name from James Bond to "Robert Ground" Diddy is just trying to do too much

P.S. Diddy said that he is looking for a new butler but he wants this one to be white and able to speak three languages.
