Bimbo.

I hate that word! An old professor of mine (theology of all things) used that word in just about every other sentence he spoke. Ugh!

I didn't read the whole thread, but when people in this area say "yunz", "yinz" or any other variation (except in jest), I mentally deduct IQ points.

*Swearing excessively. Sure, we all let one or 2 fly when we're upset, but swearing every other word is tacky and it makes you sound unintellegent.

*Inappropriate words to refer to female reproductive organs (the p & c words). I hate them, never use them, and think they sound gross.

*Y'all. I understand that some people in the south use it in regular conversation, but this is Ohio.

*Ain't. It makes you sound like an idiot.

South of Broad Street in Columbus is basically, "south". That group lives in C'lumbus Ahaya.

i really hate the phrase "that's so gay." nothing says "i need to grow the eff up" like using that phrase.

My family and I have had this discussion before... "ointment" was the chosen 'we-loathe-it" term.

My aunt hates when people say "my bad". I said it once just to make her mad...

well there is a difference between words that you find tasteless/tacky and words that make you cringe. "ointment" just has an awful sound to it but doesnt really offend (unless youre only telling the story halfway )

but i know what you mean - my staff a couple of years ago couldnt do the word "moist" (it was from a list of words a staff member HATED and it stuck) and over time, we grew to dislike "donut" (we had a staff development meeting and some guy was making this horrible analogy involving a donut - he'd pronounce it doooooooe-nut, dragging out that first syllable - it was insane!)

My bad. haha I'm completely kidding. Good point; I guess I just read the thread and that was what came to mind.

Tacky and tasteless? Sorostitute.

My list is so long ... I'll stick with the most annoying.

Certain of my family members used to talk like this: "OMG, that dress is just, like, so gay! How can you think it's cute? You are so retarded! Ew!" I can't STAND "text message speak" being used out loud; I can't STAND "gay" and "retarded" being misused (how is an article of clothing gay???); I can't STAND "like" being used constantly for no particular reason.

Now, as I get progressively sleepier/angrier/more intoxicated, my own speech tends to degenerate into a very Southern slangy mess that I'm sure would bug everyone on this board
