Its probably not the extended edition.
I would check Froogle at http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=...ed+DVD+Edition and make sure that its a Region 1 set, and that its from a North American retailer.

Also, this comes with a protective sleeve for all three extended editions. For people like me, who bought all three seperately, you can get this sleeve mailed to you for just $3 at http://lotrdvdbox.com/. I ordered mine today.

I've been looking since November and havent been able to find it in stores anywhere!
I havent even seen it advertised at amazon and bn.com but ofcourse i havent looked there too much for it either........
So it's out and it's awesome?????!?!?!?

Yes,
it-is-awsome.
The new and extended scenes make much more sense and help complete the story lines.
