I just found out that Alias WILL have a fourth season. BUT, we won't get to see it until January 2005. Then, they will air 20 shows without re-runs during the "season."

Ugh. That's awful, making us wait like that. Maybe I will have to read the books after all, just to get my Alias fix.

The only reason I could see it starting in January is if ABC has decided to move it from Sundays to Mondays, which means it will be preempted by Monday Night Football until January.

ETA - there's lots of speculation on TWOP in the "General Gabbery" forum - read the thread titled "Alias Scheduling & Ratings Issues". At least the show will run for 20-some odd weeks without interruptions. I'm kind of afraid, though -- what if the ABC Monkeys decide not to bring the show back?

First, as for the whole Alias season not starting until January. Honestly, until I hear this confirmed directly from ABC and J.J. Abrahms I really don't want to believe "rumors". I mean this was posted on a known spoiler website and there are times when a "spoiler" becomes a "foiler". I personally think ABC is stupid as hell if they do this b/c it isn't going to keep viewers, I think it will detract viewers away. They will find something else to watch on Sunday night, some new show.

I mean I understand with The Practice now off the air that the Sunday night time slot might not be the best time, but neither would Monday night b/c the show WILL NEVER air when all the other shows do b/c of Monday Night Football. If ABC is so desperate to move Alias around find some other time, not Monday's. Choose some night where you aren't in direct competition with one of the top five shows. Just to make an example:

I grabbed my Entertainment Weekly from May 14th (sweeps) and the top 10 shows were as follows:
1. CSI (CBS, Thursdays)
2. Friends (NBC, off the air)
3. American Idol (Fox, Tuesdays)
4. American Idol (Fox, Wednesdays)
5. ER (NBC, Thursdays)
6. Survivor (CBS, Thursdays)
7. (a tv movie)
8. Will & Grace (NBC, Thursdays)
9. Friends (rerun, NBC, Thursdays, off the air)
10. Law & Order (NBC, Wednesdays)

Okay just looking at this, I would say Thursdays are just out of the question. Never go head to head with the number one show in the country, not a smart thing to do. Now some of these shows might go up and down, Friends is now out of the picture and well ER is usually lower.

But just by looking at the Neilsons for sweeps it would seem that the best time to put Alias would be on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. In AZ, AI is on at 7-8 on Tuesdays & Wednesday from 8-8:30. So right there I would say put Alias from 8-9 or 9-10 and then your not competing with AI, which is in the top ten. Yes, you will be completing with other shows on the other networks, but you get that anyways.

Sorry about my little tangent. Just wanted to express my feelings about how I think ABC would be stupid not to check out all their options before making such a STUPID (IMPO) decision.

Enough of that....

The season finale.....

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still cannot believe what happened.

I cannot believe that Vaughn actually killed Lauren. Thank God though. My mini-violen is playing.

And what were those classified documents that Sydney was reading. Obviously it had something to do with Project Christmas (which was mentioned in season one). What did Jack do to his own daughter? Did he turn his daughter into a covenant spy? OMG did he somehow know where she was during those two years she was missing?

As for Sydney and Vaughn, they are both so screwed when they get back. They probably will lose their jobs, well not really cause that would mean the end of the show, but geez. They are both so busted. With Lauren dead Sydney still has to prove that she didn't actually plant all those bombs in the Rotunda of the CIA HQ. And Vaughn, well I don't think he is as screwed as Sydney is, I mean Eric was in on his "escape" from the hosptal, heck he probably helped him get to Sydney.

I am still in shock over what happened.

Okay enough jabbering from me.

One request though, agree with me, disagree with me just please respect my opinions.

These were the basis of my post about Alias being held until January... I didn't get them from a spoiler site. It's true.

I don't think ABC thinks as highly of Alias as we do... I believe they do not see it as a ratings draw and would rather take chances on new shows.

See my friend told me she read it from a spoiler site. So I wasn't about to really take a spoiler site to seriously. I couldn't access the Mercury News website, so I just read the Yahoo one. You know the least they could do is EXPLAIN why they are doing this? Does that make sense? I swear that somewhere, maybe a different thread, it was talked about how ABC actually liked Alias and gave it high hopes even though it didn't get high ratings. I'm totally confused now but that is okay.

So what did you think of the finale?

Meh.

I got all excited over nothing. Way to lose someone who's been a huge fan since season one, Monkeys. The waiting unti January isn't helping either.

Meh, and meh again.

I was expecting a finale as good as the one from last season! Boy, I was let down. It did nothing for me except to leave me with more questions than answers... And, as good as it is, it's going to lose some of its appeal to me by having to wait until next Jan. to see it...

Alias has been "NYPDBlue'd" so it can run straight through with (relatively) few interruptions. Remember how frustrating it is to go 2-3 weeks without a new ep? This problem should be minimized by the delayed start, or so TPTB say. As long as they get back on the air and get back to S1/S2 quality I'll be happy, because this season was filled with holes topped with rubbish.

Having said that, the finale was lousy. I was hoping for a S1 & S2 quality finale, a labor inducing finale for Tippie even <<hugs>> Yep, we got the single most brilliant line of the season in "Hi Honey!" and the payoff of the Lauren shooting, but rumor has it that she's not quite dead yet. Darn.

Like Sistermadly, I've been a fan since day one...okay, since before day one due to the MV casting I was hooked in the first minutes of the premiere and have watched religiously since. Own S1 & S2 DVD, have the bulk of S3 in the DVR until the S3 DVD comes out, the whole shebang. This was the worst ep of a generally lousy season, folks. Yes, they did do a partial re-write on the season finale, but unless they cut a crucial scene this was no 'Resurrection.'

Unless, of course, the 'Resurrection' had to do with Vaughn's miraculous recovery...or the 'Resurrection' of those files in the safe deposit box (note the #47 on the first page folks, and think about it)...or SpyDaddy showing up just as Syd was reading the documents (and think about that even more)...or Sloane and SpySis teaming up...so, who REALLY stabbed Vaughn? (think think think) and finally...so, who is Rambaldi (are you THINKING yet?)

Hmmm, Syd went into Project Christmas at age 6, but that's her date of birth on the 1st page of the documents. Remember back in season 2 and SpyMommy telling SpyDaddy that 'Syd wouldn't forgive him when she finds out what you did to her.'? Remember? Is this it?

And why the heck are they in the spot where Sydney could fulfill the prophecy? Italy? Hello, remember all that? PLOT HOLES!!!!!

Next!

OMG I'm totally drawing a blank on what Syd's mom said to Jack about Project Christmas. I guess I need to go back and watch season 2 (or would it be season one, cause I thought some of it was first brought up in one?)

Not to sound like a total blonde, but #47, I'm drawing another blank? Is that supposed to relate to the 47th episode?

Well the finale was in no way to the caliber of The Telling. But I've been reading that they (the writers) originally wrote (and I think maybe filmed) another finale and then scrapped it last minute. I guess in this original finale Sydney had to make a choice between "two people she loved". I kind of wonder what that choice would have been?

The only thing I found interesting was the ending. I would love to know what the documents say. Obviously something completely horrible b/c her face showed ultimate betrayl (sp).

As for Lauren, watch Vaughn had killed a clone. Which would be like "damn, she's not dead".

I am super-confused. Good thing I have until January to finish watching seasons 1 & 2 (my boyfriend and I just started watching this season, but I read all of the TWOP recaps so I would have some clue what was going on) and then re-watch season 3 when it comes out on DVD. Then, maybe I can figure out what is going on. Or not.

Lauren's not dead. She's supposed to come back next season as a "recurring" character. I guess she's getting shot full of whatever Frallison took to keep coming back.

Season 2, and if I figure out which ep I'll let you know...not that we don't have EIGHT months to rewatch all 3 seasons!

47 is repeated and repeated and repeated One of the eps in season 1 was called "Page 47." There's a good breakdown of all the 47 references at the tvtome.com ep guide, http://www.tvtome.com/Alias/guide.html
