How exactly does throwing a baton/stick in the air keep you in good shape?

And why did you dad tear up your pictures??

1) Dancing/marching/doing semi-gymnastics while twirling a baton & not catching your hair on fire takes a LOT of energy, and a LOT of practice. Like 2-3 hours a day. Also, wearing a costume that was somewhat like a swimming suit only covered in sequins was very good incentive to keep in shape!

2) Loved my daddy, may he rest in peace, but he was a prude about pictures of his daughter in a bathing suit! I'm not going to post my high school stats on the internet!

I really want to see your high school pictures. If you post yours, I'll post mine. (Not that anyone requested my pictures.) I mean just normal pictures, not in a bathing suit.

LOL - I have been trying to post at least one since I came onto GreekChat!! I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I would gladly post one, once I get it figured out. (I'm using a scanner, not a digital camera)

If you can scan a picture onto your computer, upload it to www.photobucket.com or another hosting website. You can link your picture to this website. I haven't scanned any pictures, but I have posted a few more recent digital photos on GC and on that yahoo photo album.

I just received your PM.

I kind of wanted to see the baton twirling outfit, actually.

The baton too.

How about a picture of the outfit and the baton without you in them?

Had to quote because I love when people reference such things from back in the good ol' days of high school.

Even if we were to post all the pretty little details, how many people would truly believe us?

Actually, you're probably right. But I'm doing my best to get scanned photos into photobucket so that I can back up what I say.

I sold the fire batons, but still have the competition ones. Seen one, seen them all. I have to check to see if my mother got rid of my costumes or not - I know she has this one dweeby looking one, but I'm not so sure about the rest.

And in all honesty, my daddy really was a major prude - especially when it came to me. This may be a harder task than it sounds!

I didn't think so then but now over 20 years later I believe that I was. I have always been described as quiet and shy but I was still involved in everything! I was in the girls' choir, drama, graduation committee and was one of the first black girls to integrate the pom poms.

I realized recently that I run into people and they all remember my name and every detail about me and I don't have a clue who these people are. I have even avoided going to a certain grocery store in my area because I am always running into people who want to make "small talk" about high school. My children will be like "who was that Mom?" and I honestly do not know.

So I guess I was pretty popular.
