I believe:

that the progress that blacks made before the civil rights movement is attributable to our desire to improve our lives ourself and not rely on others. we did not do it because we were backed by the republicans (party of lincoln) or the democrats. we backed ourselves.

People have choices in their life. They may not be the most ideal choices, but one would hope the person would select the best option of the choices available. With that said believe it or not but we DO have control over how we live our lives, who we marry etc. Believe me you have choices and will be judged by God for those choices. A person will not be able to offer the excuse at the pearly gates that they had not control, didn't know anything about it or it was someone else's fault.

Finally, with the upcoming holiday season, i believe that it should be against the law to make and distribute fruit cake

I DON'T think that it is ok for a black man to date a white woman or outside of his race...

but I think it is great when black women do It has to do with the idea that we as black women are so undesirable that our own men don't want us. So, a black woman dating a white or non-black man proves that not only is this idea wrong , but we can have any man we desire and that we are desirable.

*Majority of people from the 18-22 (college age) age group have not reached their peak in emotional maturity, lol.

*People, particularly non-blacks, who claim that they hate rap, yet love Eminem are being hypocritical and biased. This is a no-brainer, but I haven't heard many people say anything about that observation.

*I'm surpised that even more rapes, child molestations, and child abductions do not happen-women are way too trusting of men and parents are way too trusting of their children's surroundings.

* I believe that people are born gay, but God can give them the power to overcome it.

* I believe four years of foreign language should be required for high school students who plan on going to college.

* I believe that interracial relationships are just fine. If a black man wants to date a white woman he should be able to without having to worry about people making comments to him or giving him dirty looks. If I want to date a white man, the same rules should apply.

* I believe the one and only reason we went to war with Iraq was to gain control of their oil fields.

* I believe abortion is selfish in most circumstances.

* I believe believe that not all blacks can dance, and unfortunately I'm one of them

* and finally I do not think that Mary J. Blige, Brandy, Ashanti, or Janet Jackson can sing.

My soapbox

I am anti-reparations
I am agnostic (and yes I have a lot of family members who are AME, Baptist and COGIC)
I am not "down" with organized religion
Welfare should not be a way of life. Tax money should be spent on education and not supporting people who made bad choices.
I am anti-reparations
I believe that gays should marry (Way to go Canada on legalizing that...it is about time)

Orphaned or foster Children should be adopted into any loving home environment, regardless of the race or sexual orientation of the household.

I believe in capital punishment...fry the bastards!

Domestic violence: The first time a man hits you...it is HIS fault...the second time, it is YOUR fault! Get the f*ck outta there!

I do NOT use the term African American-I have YET to tell someone to "kiss my african american ass" I use blacka nd white

I believe that interracial relationships are just fine. If a black man wants to date a white woman he should be able to without having to worry about people making comments to him or giving him dirty looks. It ain't nobody's bidness who my husband is...if you got a problem, then it is YOUR problem....get over it!

Prochoice Soapbox

AGAINST ABORTION? Then dammit don't have one! It is between a woman and her doctor! (Yes I have Marched on Washington)
Oh yeah WTF is up with these MEN who are walking the protest lines? The day you can have periods, get pregnant, and have a baby, THEN you can talk to me...until then shut the F up!

Animal related: Declawing cats should be outlawed
People who don't take the time and (miminmal amount of money) to spay and neuter their pets do NOT need to be pet owners

People who abandoned animals should be shot

I believe that PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are a bunch of fruitcakes. If you want to help animals then donate time, food and money to your animal shelter. Campaign for no kill shelters...DO NOT give money to PETA

Pets are family members (ya can tell I LOVE my cats)

I may get flamed but here goes....

* I believe children or older kids should stay in their grade and repeat it regardless of their age. If you are 7 going on 8 and still in Kindergarden, you better start learning something...

* I believe in Hammurabi's Code of Laws. Applying these laws would help control our society's issues, lol.

* I believe the government should get rid of the STUPID labels and titles on applications on almost EVERYTHING, i.e. Black Hispanic, White Hispanic, Non-White Hispanic, etc. What if someone is Hispanic with one Black parent and one White parent? Now what do you check? I say lose the LABELS!

* I believe that the word "Hispanic" encompasses WAY TOO MANY different types of people and cultures from TOO many countries, thus opening doors and allowing A LOT of assumptions and generalizations when referring to someone who is "Hispanic" i.e. "He's with that Hispanic girl (READ: Spanish girl, White girl, etc.)"

* I believe Black men SHOULD choose whoever they want to marry or be with. It should be more about finding the MOST COMPATIBLE person to share life with, rather than "because of RACE."

* I believe that Black women who give me a "look" while I am walking down the street with my man are JEALOUS(?) (I don't even know you!) It gets annoying and old very quickly. I mean come on...do you REALLY care if I am with a Black man?

* I believe that everyone has a sixth sense (not like ESP or paranormal, more like a "feeling"); some just have it more "enhanced" than others, like IQs, etc. Like the "feeling" you get when you walk into a room and sense the vibe, or when you know someone is looking at you.

* I believe that EVERYONE in this country SHOULD speak ENGLISH - MANDATORY! (I will give you some slack if you are willing to learn or just learning.) Just because you speak to me in another language DOES NOT mean that I HAVE TO REPLY BACK in the same language you used!!! I don't feel like speaking in another language!

Hello Soror:

"During the years from 1792-1750 BC, Hammurabi was King of Babylonian. He founded an empire that was eventually destroyed by raids from Asia Minor. His code of laws, found on a column at Susa, is one of the greatest of the ancient codes. He lived in the ancient empire of Mesopotamia. Historically the name refers to the first dynasty of Babylon established by Hammurabi (1750 BC) and to the Neo-Babylonian period after the fall of the Assyrian Empire. Hammurabi, who had his capital at Babylon, issued a famous code of laws for the management of the empire. Babylonian religion and cuneiform writing were derived from the older culture of Sumer. Hammurabi based the code of laws on older collections of Sumerian and Akkadian laws, which he revised and expanded.

One principle of the Code of Hammurabi is that "the strong shall not oppress the weak". The code begins with him celebrating military victories. He promises to treat conquered peoples justly and he honors their gods. The provisions of the code cover many legal matters, including false accusations, witch craft, military service, land and business, regulations, family laws, tariffs, wages, trades, loans, and debts."

I learned about them in middle school in my history class. Here's a link that lists the laws. After learning about them, I always wondered why we don't apply them today (of course with some modifications to reflect our times)...I'm sure it would solve some of the crime in today's society. Laws need to be stricter: Hammurabi's Code of Laws (scroll down and begin reading "The Code of Laws"). Basically: "If a man put out the eye of another man, his eye shall be put out."

"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."

I believe that people are born with the knowledge of what's right and wrong. It's just a matter of following our intuition.

I believe that the more I try to do the right thing and follow my intuition, the more people will hate me.

I believe people are naturally "bad" but learn to control their animalistic behaviors.

I believe in the conspiracy theory that the government is collecting a file on every man via ATM cards, satellite's that come into our homes, school records, ss#'s, gas cards, taxes, bank accounts, medical records. Now they want to put a nagivational system in your car so that if you get lost, they can find you. Oh, and you have to pay for it. Some where out there, there's a file on us all. Step out of line and your going down!

What's up with not supporting reparations! What if the government paid back the black community in the form of NEW COMPUTERS IN OUR SCHOOLS, and other like programs that will bring our schools up to par (making them more competitive with white rural schools). What about reparations in the form of UPGRADING THE LIVING CONDITIONS IN THE PROJECTS AND GHETTO's. Really, it's your opinion ... but I'm sick with it. It hurts to come on a predominately black forum and here opposition to programs established to help our people. What ever people!!!

The black folks with money (I'm talkin' millionaires) put their money together and start a network of Black private schools.

Banish the electoral college

Make U.S. companies with plants outside the country abide by U.S. labor laws

Reparations for Native Americans

Reparations for African-Americans (not money, I have some other ideas)

Fund all elections with public money, no private contributions so that not only the rich get their say

NAACP, NUL, and all BGLO's admit that YES we are elitist and bourgeoisie and need to get more active with the lower class

Admit that we all need to overhaul our intake systems and until we do we risk extinction

Europe paying reparations to African countries and companies like DeBeers pay reparations to citizens and give African countries back their natural resources

We take North Korea seriously

We start a new Black Cultural Revolution
