SCHoney, I'm thrilled you're going back to Pi Phi! If a chapter invites you back to pref, they're looking seriously at you as a potential sister. Don't worry -- they like you.
Chloe, I'm so glad you're going to your top two for pref.
The best of luck to both of you.

SCHoney-I am glad you got your top picks...please post video AND pref reviews...you are holding out on us for details!! (see I live in the Northeast and we just do not have the sort of rushes that go on in CA! I love hearing about them!!)
Chloe-I am glad that you got to go back to the places you feel at home. Don't forget pref details!!!

Chloe and SC, I'm very happy for both of you! Pref is such a special night...enjoy it and really allow it to show you where you feel most at home. Best of luck...can't wait to find out!

Chloe,
I am so glad things went well today. Everyone at USC is sick right now. There is a really nasty flu going around and I know a lot of actives and PNM's were sick this weekend. Congrats on making it through recruitment and feel better. Please post if you can after you get your bid and let us know how you are doing.

Chloe, our pref was in the morning as well and I felt kind of silly all dolled up in my black dress at like 9am. Anyway, I'm glad you had a great pref experience. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Chloe:
Oh, I cannot tell you how exciting your thread is to read. It totally reminds me of my own rush. One of the other houses I prefed was GPhiB as well! It was gorgeous but ADPi was my home.
I think you've had an open mind and heart during this whole process, and I hope you end up where you will make a wonderful sister.

Hey Aphigal
I'm so sorry - I didn't mean to be holding out on juicy details. I just kind of intruded here on Chloe's rush experience and so didn't want to assume that anyone was interested in mine. I'd love to share with you though, and I just hope I can remember everything.
Sitting back now, Rush seems like such a blur. It went so fast and was so long, plus I met more people then I ever imagined and have a hard time keeping my facts straight between them. I think so myself, oh Kim was such a great girl.. blah blah... but um, what house was she in again? And thoughts like that....
I'm start with the House tours, but won't go into too much detail about those. I loved almost every house I saw. They were all stunning and the girls were all great. By the end of the day I was so tired, that I didn't enjoy it as much and so I feel that the one's earlier on had an advantage.
I started with Delta Gamma, and just loved the house and all the girls. I met the house mom, who pulled me and the girl showing me around, in her bedroom, and set to the girl, "We need her. This one's a keeper and we could do with more brunettes around here. [All three of us were brunette] So I had a good feeling there instantly. We have stunning drinks in Pineapples, and everything was amazing. Anchor shaped Cookies, and so on were just devine.
I don't even remember the rest of the order, but I visited:
Gamma Phi Beta
Pi Beta Phi
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Kappa Alpha Theta
Alpha Delta Pi
By Kappa I was finished, and couldn't speak, and ADPi was stunning but I was just ready to go home. I must say that I loved all the houses and each had something special and different and the girls were all great.
Theta was the first house I went to on Thursday night, and I loved it. I loved the girls, and everything, but then on my house tour I was paired up with some strange girls I couldn't connect with, and who didn't say much. There were huge lulls and I felt I needed to carry on the conversation, which I didn't enjoy.
Because I loved all 6 though, I had a hard time cutting 2 for the side show day and while I wasn't initially even going to keep G Phi Beta, I had a great tour and loved it, and then Theta was the opposite way around so I considered them to drop.
After much agony with my Rho Chi, I picked the following 4 to go back to:
Kappa
Pi Phi
DG
G Phi B
I'm so tired now though so I think I'll pause and take a break and come post more details soon. Sorry! I don't mean to keep anyone in suspense. I'll share one detail from Kappa though before I leave which I LOVED!!
They were all dressed in a baseball kind of them, with little denim shorts, white and green knee high socks and Green and Blue base ball shirts. The front said Kappa, and the back said "we're in a league of our own"
When I went inside to watch the video, the girl left to get me a drink, and when she came back, she had a cookie for me, frosted like a baseball. It was white with red icing for the stitching, and then in light blue, was my name across the cookie! I loved it. It was the cutest most personal touch I'd seen all day and even though I was hot and tired and not hungry, I indulged in the cookie!!!
Again on this day I visited DG first and so I started to see it as possibly being a sign....but I'll tell you more soon!!
Bye Girls!

One more thing...
I may have left out an ijmportant piece of information that some of you might be interested to know. I'm actually rushing as a Junior!!
Which was and still is very scary. I didn't know how that would work out, and I was nervous about being older than all the other girls, and the houses not wanting me because of it. This is my first semester at SC because I transfered so it's not like I waited.
What is the policy regarding upperclassmen at some of your houses? does it make a difference? I've heard some chapters only accept Freshman, but I'm not sure why that is???
Anyone know?

Because that way they fill their houses with members that will be there for a full 4 years.

Chole-- I can't wait to hear how your rush works out!! Good Luck!
SC_Honey-- as a transfer, you are most likely looked upon differently than a junior who has already been there for 2 years. I can speak only for my house at USC at the time I was there, but we didn't penalize transfers. GOOD LUCK!
Fight On!

Thank goodness....
...Gamma Phi at USC did not care that I rushed as a Junior! I was not a transfer student either -- I was in the Trojan band though and band camp always fell the same week as rush -- so I missed out on rushing as a sophmore (my parents did not allow me to do anything as a freshman except women's swim team & ROTC). So
as a junior who desparately wanted to go thru rush, I essentially blew off band camp -- actually I went to a few days of it after rush ended...but to this very day, I am so glad Gamma Phis did not cut me because I was a junior -- I have been one VERY dedicated alumna that's for sure!!!
amycat -- when were you at SC and what house were you in?
