Justamom- just when you thought I was down and out- I'm back again!!! Thanks for the Christmas wishes and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all GCers!!!
On a more serious note.... The serial killer strikes again, this time in Lafayette. (For those who don't know, about an hour or so, west of here.)

Headlines hit our paper this morning... I guess the I-10 corridor just might be a key. I wonder how many others could be connected if our DNA data base had been in existence. This is really scary. To think she was National Guard!!! With training like that it just goes to show NO ONE is safe!
I wonder too if the end of the DC slayings spurred this guy on to get back to "work".
WHY CAN'T THEY FIND THAT PICKUP TRUCK???!!!???!!?

JAM, I've been commuting to and from Baton Rouge every day for the past month or so and I can't tell you how many white pickup trucks I see along I-12 and then I-10. Its like a needle in a haystack.
But, I really don't think that Barney and Andy down at EBR sherriff's office know what the hell they are doing...something tells me that if it were young *men* being killed they'd get off their asses...

Thanks for the links, pretty interesting. Wasn't there a slew of murders against black females years back that they basically swept under the rug? I could be wrong, but weren't some of the women involved prostitutes? I'm thinking, because they were black and not "respected" women of the community, they never received the attention they deserved. Same theory as you Juniorgrrl, if these murders were committed against men...
The information revealed-weekend-near the end of the month-trauma to the head-hidden in wooded areas-and now the possibility of "computers" being a connection tells me they need to reexamine ALL their unsolved murders.
Oh, I know you're right, I KNOW there are so many white pickups-just like DC with the white van, but i's all that seems the least bit concrete about the guy. With all this info coming out I agree with Thetalove- I know that someone out there knows something, a significant other or something.

I used to live in San Antonio back in the late 1990s and remember very well the deluge back in '98. When the Olmos Basin gets to overflowing, there goes US 281! And the Riverwalk just barely escaped getting washed away - they had recently finished a flood control channel that keeps the floodwaters away from most of downtown.
BTW, hurricanes are rated Category 1 through 5 on a scale called the Saffir-Simpson scale. It's based on windspeed sopme other factors. The strength of a tornado is measured on the Fujita scale from F0 to F5. Because of the short duration of a tornado the estimated F-number is figured from the amount of damage caused. (Courtesy of the meteorology class I took at OU when I was an undergrad, which I promptly flunked!)

The latest kidnapping victim...what do you think? wafb.com has good articles
committed by the serial killer or not?
It happened Christmas Eve of all times. I think it was probably the serial killer-but that is just a hunch. At first I didn't because she was 65, but looking at pictures and videos of her...she didn't look 65. She had the body of someone much younger. Brunette, attractive, extremely outgoing, etc. All the same characteristics of the other victims in BR. This was in Port Allen. Of course, people reported seeing a white truck leaving and police are looking at surveillence tapes. She was about to move out of her condo because she felt unsafe. So did the other women.
She had also been taking self defense classes. I wonder if he knocks his victims out. I hope they find her, safe and soon! When will it end?

Wouldn't it be nice if this whole sketch thing pans out? I'm getting really sick of everything that has gone on. I'm wide awake right now because I just get creeped out when it's really quiet in my house...paranoia is not cool.

Our paper carried the sketch today. Honestly, I don't know how people can identify a person from a sketch unless they KNOW them. Even the pictures the FBI posted on those suspects don't help me. I know I wouldn't be able to identify one of them if I bumped into him at a grocery store!
I guess if you KNOW a person who wears size 11 shoes-has access to a white truck-kinda looks like the picture-you will get a lead. Some people are just good at faces but its no one of my gifts.
As far as Fowler goes, I'm not so sure there is a link. Maybe because this is Louisiana, I tend to think it could be a payback
or a random act. Sad to say, until this devil is caught, there will be more murders...
I wish I knew what the police AREN'T telling us. SURELY they have more than they are releasing. If not...we really are in deep ____!

Another missing woman! No links, but the fact that they found her keys and purse in the car follows the other cases.
OPELOUSAS -- A city police detective investigating the disappearance of an Opelousas woman said no solid leads have been found to connect the case to the serial killer who has killed three women in Baton Rouge and one from Lafayette. (MORE)

The other night, Charlotte Murray Pace's mother and sister were on Connie Chung Live. I'm glad to see it getting national attention again. They were on right after the family of the pregnant woman from California who has been missing since Christmas Eve. As I was watching it, I couldn't help but think that it was a tragedy- but why is this getting attention and not the serial killer's victims. Thank goodness both are getting national attention and hopefully both kidnappings and/or murders can be solved. As far as the woman from Opelousas, I don't know if this is just someone taking advantage of the serial killer thing- copycatting or something. I would think that now the serial killer is moving on to a different location. Scott- where Dene Colomb's body was found, Churchpoint- where the kidnapped woman's car was found and Grand Coteau- where Colomb's car was found are all pretty small towns within relatively close proximity to each other.

The Opelousas woman's murderer was her boyfriend- trying to mimic the serial killer.
I got this email today.....I don't know what to think about this, it sounds a little odd to me.
Joan just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch
the night before last and she called the police b/c it was late and
she thought it was weird. The police told her "whatever you do, do
NOT open the door." The lady then said that the baby had crawled near a window and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The police said, "we already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." he told her that they think the serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside of their doors when they're home alone at night.

I honestly think that e-mail is a hoax. Still, whoever thought of it
has a very devious mind. I would fall for it...HAVE fallen fo it, but it turned out to be a CAT instead of a BABY!!!
