Aw man! I just saw ZTA's bid day picture on Facebook and I couldn't help hoping you were in there! Hugs to you!

Really sorry, Nittanyville, I really had my fingers crossed for you. But as I mentioned in an earlier post, there IS life outside of the Greek system at Penn State. There are 40,000 people there, for goodness sake! You can still get involved in so many ways on campus, be involved with THON, etc. Let yourself wallow for a bit then shake it off and get back to focusing on all you can do while you're there. Trust me, your days in Happy Valley will go by all too quickly - enjoy them!!

COB happens when they reset total and if you are ready, you may have a chance to get a bid. When the hurt has faded a little, call the Greek Life office and ask about informal recruitment.
Yeah, I understand, especially with so many girls going through. And everyone loved Toy Story's pref night so I knew they'd have a lot of number 1 rankings on the rushee side. I think this is great advice and I will look into COB if I can. I don't think that rushing formal is any better or worse than another way.

I hope that you will look into COB if it's an option. (Disclaimer: I know less than absolutely nothing about recruitment at your school, or if COB is an option.)
Thanks, yeah everyone is both kind and insightful and it's a great mix for a forum, especially when online forums tend to be unorganized and can get out of hand.

Spent good time with friends and felt better (but it's funny because I cried more when my friends were there just being there for me). I am definitely not against Greek and I want to keep all my Greek friends!

I agree, I think THON is great no matter who you do it with, and I definitely want to make the most of the rest of my time here.

Thanks for sticking through it with me! I will definitely take time to think things over and make sure I show my friends how appreciative I am they stuck with me through the process and with me afterwards.

Just as a general note to everyone, I still think the Greek system is great. Even though I'm not a part of it, I obviously wouldn't have been so upset if I didn't want to be a part of it. I am considering rushing next year although being a junior will be tough. I am also considering COB or maybe another Greek org.

But right now I'm just getting through the sting and trying to keep my emotions in check. Thank you all for your support and feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions that you don't want to be posted on this thread! I will continue responding to posts here but I don't want to clog up the front page.

Thanks so much for reading and supporting! It helped having this to look forward to each day. <3

Good for you for sticking with the process! I'm very sorry that you did not get a bid but I hope that you'll try COBing! Good luck with the rest of college!

Are there opportunities for COB at Penn State? Just in case, you might express interest to the Greek Life office. Yes, your life will go on without Greek life, but maybe there's still a glimmer of hope Best of luck to you regardless.

Am I the only one who had Justin Timberlake in my head singing the OP's username?

Bring it on down to Nittanyville...

At any rate...I'm sorry rush didn't work out for you. There are LOTS of other fun ways to get involved at Penn State so take a little time to heal and then get back out there.

Sorry Nittanyville But, as everyone else has said, The Main Campus is such an amazing place, you are bound to have a ton of fun no matter which path you take.

Thinking back to the last time I was in SC...for a work conference. Which is making me hungry...all we did there was eat, LOL!

Nittanyville, I'm sorry things didn't work out yet on the Greek front, but with your positive attitude and level head, you're going to be just fine. Don't settle for something that your heart isn't into. You'll find your way for sure!

Normally, I am one of the first people who will tell you that you shouldn't have SIP'd (which I really don't think you should have done) and I won't feel the least bit sorry for you but, I really do feel bad that things didn't work out. I truly believe that you still can have success, in the future. I wish you the best of luck and remember that it's an awesome experience to be a Nittany Lion.
