That wasn't ballet. It wasn't even contemporary ballet. I hated that they built up the anticipation for a pas de deux (which I actually think those two would have been capable of), because I was immediately let down. It was just a stronger and more intricate modern than what has been done on this show before. They just had to give it a 'special name' - believe me, that's how you get Desmond Richardson.
Not to say it was bad, it was amazing. And they were probably the only two who could have executed it that well.

Yes, I've been voting for Joshua too. Not only because he's from Fort Worth, but he's just all kinds of awesome.

I would love to see a couple do a dance en pointe this season but I doubt it'll happen. It takes a lot of training - significantly more time than their alloted 5 hours with the choreographer. Plus I think the only people who could pull off a routine en pointe would be Katee, Will (well...ballet since men don't really do en pointe) and maybe Courtney.

I actually voted for the first time last night... I voted for Twitch. I think he's great, but I don't feel like it went that well for him last night and I don't want him to get voted off!
I also feel really bad for Kherington. I love her, however, she did not dance as well as the others last night. I hope she stays!
Katee is an amazing dancer.... there's just something that still bothers me about her. I really don't like how she acted during the auditions, when she said she wouldn't try out again if she didn't make it on the show this time. Nigel even made a comment last night about how they came close to not having her on the show.

it won't ever happen unless it is assigned to a couple with strong enough technique IN BALLET to do it. It has nothing to do with the 5 hours of rehearsal; it's the technique you bring into that rehearsal. You can't fake it. Same reason they don't have tap. They just wouldn't be able to do it justice.
Years ago when I was doing The Nutcracker, I was assigned a partner one year who's technique in ballet was horrendous (it was a non-profit, they took any guy available). Even after months of rehearsals, he did not have the technique to support me. I was lucky I wasn't severely injured. When the same role was offered to me again the next year, I declined because he would have been my partner again. He made me look terrible and I didn't want a broken neck.
They may have allowed Rayven to do it had she stayed, but Jessica (few seasons back) was better than Rayven and only had the chance to do so during her solo. IMO Will is the only male capable of a classical pas, and Katee would be my guess as to has had the most ballet, though that doesn't necessarily mean her pointe work is great. Courtney - absolutely not. You can see it in her technique and carriage. Though I'm open to her surprising me.
I'm okay with them forgoing couples' routines in ballet, but please for heaven's sake, bring in some NYCBallet, American Ballet Theatre or Pacific Northwest Ballet as a guest on results night!
ETA: They should bring back DANNY and Jessica for a pas! That would be fab. =)

TOTALLY agreed about Will being the only one who I would trust to do classical ballet.
I get really annoyed at some of this show's versions of genres. Including faux "ballet" and faux "Viennese waltzes." Dancing with the Stars at least has the advantage of being accurate to the styles for the most part, and the judges usually fault the professional dancer if they do something crazy choreographically. Of course on this show, it's all about stroking the choreographers' egos so that would NEVER happen.
On that note, I meant to say I TOTALLY agreed with whoever said Mandy Moore is just not bringing it this season. The Thayne/Comfort lyrical thing from last week was AWFUL. And it wasn't just the dancing. The choreography is just lame and over.

The problem now is that it is fan votes who choose who stays and who goes. We will probably have many more disappointments because people are calling in droves to keep the ones they want (dancing be damned - it can be based on personality).
Comfort had more people call than Kherington, although I don't get it Comfort's dancing and personality don't really impress me, I don't think she is that good at her own genre much less the others (ballroom ) and I'm not partial to the "gansta" persona she puts on (is that for real?), but people must have preferred her over Kherington, who also had some weak performances. And, unfortunately, Gev didn't have the established base of the other guys, but at this point, I really like all the guys, so will be disappointed to see any go!
I guess I need to start calling now. I don't want to be the one who didn't do my part

LOL
You and me both! I often wonder how "gangsta, buck and stank" she really is...AND, to learn last night that she's had technical training at a performing arts school??? What? Twitch is crazy-good compared to her and hasn't had any training! When I see Comfort dance, I immediately compare her to Sara last season, and Sara could outdance Comfort without even trying!

I'm sad to see Kherington go.. I just knew she and katee would be the final 2 girls.. I actually think Chelsea might be the last girl standing...
I think Will is great but he's kind of annoying in the personality dept(which is why I beleive he wont win and might miss the final 4).. I do think Joshua will be one of the last two guys standing
Final 4 picks.. Katee, Chelsea, Twitch, Joshua
btw.. I didnt think Comfort was that bad on Wed(at least not in the hip hop dance)

She's great in her own style, but she's terrible outside her own style. Kherrington was a little more versatile and much better trained. You can't fake technique. Also, Comfort has chemistry issues with everyone she's been partnered with when she dances outside her style (and sometimes in her own style). I don't know if that's luck of the draw, of if she isn't good at partnering. I just think she's gotten WAY too lucky from week to week; she's gone farther in the competition than she deserves.

YES. Or looks. Or being foreign. The exact reason why Pasha didn't make it to the finale last year! All the teeny boppers voted for the pretty boys (Danny, Neil) instead of the guy who could adapt to any style and surprise you (though I would have been disappointed to see any of them go).

Katee was so dynamic last night. In both routines, she totally outshone Twitch. I would have liked to see her do the first piece with Mark because he embraces his character so much, and Twitch looks pretty much the same in every routine.
It's time for Comfort to go...again.

Our Fox affiliate's been running PSAs telling everyone to vote for Mark, and I know that several email campaigns were started by his family. I had both phones on redial last night for the entire two hours. I hope I helped to save his ass.
I'd love love love to see Katee and Mark together!
