It's nice that you have updated your information on your website - but to state that omicron means "small" is to miss the point that omicron does not MEAN small - the name for the greek letter is derived from the latin for "small o" in contrast to omega (which is a larger O).
The word "omicron" MEANS a letter in the greek alphabet. It is not the "obvious" choice - it is the correct one.
Perhaps your ministry should consider another name, given the fact that you wish to set yourselves apart from the GLOs who exist. Maybe use your "D.I.V.A." - you would have to ignore the origin of the word "diva", though.
I sincerely think that if you did that, you would not have to spend time explaining what you are NOT and can concentrate on what you ARE - and thus would avoid the need to insult GLO.

Huh?? Is it really that serious?? I didn't know about any updates, but I pray that the peace of the Lord is with you, and that you and your org accomplishes your mission just as we have set to accomplish ITE's.

Take care.

Go look on the website. There is now an expanded discussion of why omicron is used instead of omega. It is inaccurate, and I sincerely thought you would want to know, rather than come across as ignorant of the greek alphabet when you chose to use it. My bad, as they say. For someone who is not here to defend your group you are certainly defensive.
I am sure Gamma Phi's 130,000 members appreciate your concern. But please don't play the condescending "parting shot" card. It makes you look petty and "omicron", oh, I mean small.

Honestly I don't mean to be condescending and frankly I don't care how large your group is. My main concern was for you-- as an individual. Thanks for taking the time to look at our site.

Regards.

Awe, SWTXBelle, you've been personally absolved by Kelouis. You may now go in Peace.

So does that mean that all of us Alpha Omicron Pi's should start calling ourselves Alpha-Small-Pi's?

Sorry I couldn't resist.

Take care.
You know you and your fellow ITE (and fellow non-ITE) members have been very condescending to the members here on GC.

The main discussion on ITE was the fact that your use of the Greek Alphabet was incorrect, that you used the acronym "DIVAs" but are obviously unaware of what "diva" actually means. The fact is you coming here isn't helping to extinguish the discussion on ITE, in fact, its changing people's opinion. I, for one, didn't really 'care' (for the lack of a better word) of how you all ran your sorority. But you all came on to this site, attacked people's beliefs, said you all wanted "support" all with a condescending tone.

Don't like what we have to say on GC....tough noogies--its a darn internet site.

Ahh but Roz (or whatever her name is) did in fact say she had not seen ---since she joined in April---anyone proclaim their faith. In fact she went as far as to say that we are "afraid."

Obviously you are all here to defend yourself. How about you take your own advice, continue to do what your feel lead to do...cause frankly just cause you all came on here doesn't mean we will stop talking.

Well aren't you just precious! But don't worry your pretty little head about me. I'd say you've got your plate full not defending your club here. You don't know me as an individual, and I dare say you don't know one iota about my sorority (well, you now know how many of us there are).

I know that your group believes all sorts of negative stereotypes about GLOs - and then goes on to further the negative ones about judgemental Christians. How do I know this? I did take the time to look at your website.

Take the time you were using to worry about me as an individual, and instead go to www.ellopos.net to educate yourself about the correct use of Greek letters.

Is it that important? Only if you don't want to come across as ignorant. I pointed out a factual error - not one of opinion, but of fact. Your response speaks volumes about both you and the ITEs - as I stated earlier, I think you and your ilk (ilk - I said ilk!) have done quite a lot to further GC's opinion of your group. You came here to GC spoiling for a fight, and have proceeded to show your true colors.

I really don't care what you and your little group chose to do about your name. This whole thread has supplied more than my daily allowance of humor and unintentional hilarity.

Also, should you wish to address a single person, I suggest you send her a personal message. Anything posted on the public forum is, um, public. Hence the name.

I'm going to follow St. Augustine's advice and bow out now.

eta - AlphaFrog - thanks be to God!

Actually, I was here to talk to an online acquaintance-- and to peruse the rest of the site. Please see my response directly to FAMUDva. I did not mention any you in it. Just because I'm not impressed by your numbers-- you have taken offense.

Please feel free to keep talking (I've never claimed to be the knower and keeper of the greek alphabet). LOL... but directing your comments towards me will be fruitless.

Thanks for your concern about the Greek alphabet and about our group...
Its truly heartwarming to see and feel the love. LOL

Welcome, then. Seriously. And now to be silly...

And not to offend, but everytime I read your screen name I think of Kelis...

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,
And they're like
It's better than yours,
Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you,
But I have to charge...

la la la la...

Again in all seriousness, if you stop posting on this thread, it will die down. Check out the rest of Greek Chat. Get involved in the discussions on the forums. Maybe you can even get your own moderated forum to chat with members all over the country.
