Yielding is part of the game, and at that point no one knew that U&J were that far behind.. they thought they were competition and they didn't want to lose to e&d. I think it was a smart use of the yield.
And E&D did complete the cookie task.

I don't fault the Beauty Queens for yielding Dani & Eric. I thought it was a good strategy.
Thanks for reminding me that E&D finished the cookie task. I had forgotten.

i was wondering about something last night. When Phil was giving the instructions for the detour, cookies or art, I thought I heard him say that the teams needed to make their way there on foot. But didn't Schmirna take a cab? I was going to rewatch that part, but Sopranos came on. Can anyone clear that up for me?

I thought I heard the same thing and in my head was thinking something wasn't right. But again, can't be sure cause I deleted it before reading this question and actually wanting the answer.

I wonder if they were penalized, but it was not shown since it didn't affect the outcome. I don't know....
Now I wish I had recorded it, as usual.

Danielle's "real" name should be "Swiss Miss" - gotta love the zippered tops too - I hope she is somewhere watching the episodes & going "Why did I wear that?"
I love Danny & Oswald - they've been my fav's for awhile (since Romber left) and Uchenna & Joyce were second Guess D&O and the BQ's are my favs to win. If its either of the other two teams, I will have wasted a season watching this show.
BTW, U&J showed up at the caves to get their card, then they were shown going straight to the castle (which was my clue that they were being eliminated - otherwise, they would need the time to determine where they would start next) - is that correct, or did they edit out them having to do all the other stuff?
This time thing still bugs me - did y'all ever duke it out to figure out if they are kept just 12 hours apart, or actual time of arrival apart?

I believe they had to do the tasks, they were just edited out.

Actually, the clue directed them to the castle where they were eliminated. I don't think they did the tasks like the other. But I may be wrong.

I too was under the impression they got the clue at the batu caves (from my faulty memory of names of places ) that said to go directly to the pit stop. Perhaps it was edited down to that, but considering how far behind they were (and the other teams had all checked in by the time the sun went down, while U&J arrived at sundown/dusk), it wouldn't make sense for them to complete the tasks. I think this is the same thing they did in Season 1, when Team Guido got stuck at a Pit Stop and by the time they reached their next clue box, the race had been won.
I've been rooting for the BQs all along - I kept last night at Eric and Danielle (and Eric's "tantrum" of ripping up the large picture of D&K - what did that really accomplish?)
I agree that I'd only feel like my time was invested "wisely" if Team Cha Cha or the BQs win - I'd be ticked off if it's Team Schmirna or Team ED

Nope, they did all the tasks. From an interview with buddytv:
Quote:
There’s a lot of editing that goes on in this show, obviously. Was there anything that you wish they had shown from this season that they didn’t?
Uchenna: Well, our time going out, last night…we were surprised at how little they showed of the struggles we went through. And we did do all the tasks, they didn’t show it, but we did do all the tasks, the road blocks and the detour. I think that would have been a little more interesting to show, really, that we kept fighting all the way to the end, we didn’t just get a letter to show up at the mat. I mean, we went from being an hour ahead, missing that flight, because of a broken ticket printer to being 10-hours behind and I think there’s a lot more drama that goes with that than what was showed.

The instructions for both detour tasks said to make their way on foot. The batik place was 1/3 of a mile away from the clue box on the bridge and the cookie stall 1/2 a mile.
Meerna and Schmeerna, Eric and Danielle all took taxis to the detour.

I'm so tired of Mirna and Charla acting like they are morally superior to everyone.
THE YIELD IS A NORMAL PART OF THE GAME! IT IS NOT PLAYING DIRTY!
ugh.
I wish it ended like last night's Drive ended with the last team arriving having been told that instead of getting the 30 minute penalty they are told to eliminate Mirna.

That. would. be. AWESOME!
I still have a grin on my face picturing the pious look she'd try giving Phil if that were the case
