I actually think that is a pretty good list, and I have been to a majority of them. I would argue that LSU should be number 1.....although I have never been to VaTech. Kyle Field is one of the loudest I have been in....especially during Texas games.

I think that list is pretty good. I would put LSU at number one as well. I know personally that Penn State and Ohio State are not very loud or crazy stadiums, but I'm sure the history factor is intimidating. On the opposite side, Wisconsin is a crazy stadium, but I don't think it is intimidating for the national powerhouse schools, who don't really think Wisconsin is a formidable force.

I would disagree in the case of Ohio State in terms of loud. Having been on the sidelines at many stadiums, the "deck" concept of construction at Ohio Stadium brings many more fans closer to the sidelines (true of all "decked" stadiums, by the way), and for rivalries like Michigan and other big national opponents, it can be deafining on the sidelines. And electric.

To throw another considerations into the mix, though, my favorite stadiums and fans tend to be in the schools that are not big time football factories where a huge percentage of the crowd is older alumni based. I like the smaller schools where the crowds are more student centered and completely nuts.

I went to the Iowa game last year and it was LOUD and wonderful!

Well, you may know more than me, as I've only been in the stands. It just didn't seem to be as rowdy and consistantly loud as other stadiums I've been in.

Yeah I agree with Ohio State. I went up there for the Texas game last year with a large group of fraternity guys and sorostitutes......and it was loud as hell and rowdy as shit. The game was also nationally televised and was one of the best college football games last year....which helped.

Yeah, it really is different when you're down at the focal point of the noise.

The other thing I didn't mention about decked stadiums is the immediate reverberation added to the closeness of the fans.

ETA, Ohio Stadium has gotten even more interesting since they closed in the South end a few years ago (you may recall that is used to called "The Old Horseshoe," and there were only bleachers in the South end.)

That Texas game was outstanding -- although I only to to see it on TV, unfortunately.

I am really excited about our stadium upgrades in 2008 for that very reason the added upperdeck in the north end is going to add like 11,000 more seats and really make it a true, big horseshoe.

Oklahoma's starting QB, and one of their better o-linemen, and another non starter are being dismissed from the team.

I will now be very surprised to see Oklahoma win OU-TX.

It would still make me happy though.

Yeah, Bomar and JD Quinn. They were receiving payments from a private business that they worked at that exceeded the amount of pay that they should have received for the hours they worked. Suspended for season, kicked off the team.

I'm glad that this was the reaction the team had. Many other universities (USC and Ohio State come to mind) where such goings-on are seemingly swept under the rug.

All of Oklahoma's rivals are having a field day on this one. As a Nebraska fan, I just have to say "it's about damn time." Oklahoma has historically been cheats, and now they get what is coming. The only reason this was done by the University was because the NCAA was getting close in their investigations of the school following the AP scandal (featuring the same car dealer) back in April; and the school is now frantically trying to play damage control - no way this was going to get swept under the rug.

The pay was reported on Bomar's 2005 return, which means certainly that Bomar was playing while recieving the money. This makes it possible, but unlikely, that the school would have to forfeit every game it played in last year. The biggest implication of this would be making both Colorado's and Nebraska's record 5-3, and since Nebraska won the head-to-head, making them the first Big XII Division champs not to play in the championship game. I hope this does NOT happen. Depending on how far this goes (rumors are it goes much much deeper than two players...) I can see the postseason results being overturned and OU giving up the Holiday Bowl trophy, though.

There is talk (all on OU rival message boards, of course) of the Death Penalty coming. I really doubt this...NCAA hasn't used the Death Penalty since SMU, despite more than one school being in similar situations since then.

That's a lot of speculation, docet. We shall see. Colorado recently had its scandal in which the NCAA did nothing, Ohio State and USC have had their issues. In none of those cases have players actually been dismissed from the team. It's my opinion that Stoops wanted to send a message, and I think he sent it well. There are some decent QBs on campus including a JC who was actually pushing Bomar this summer -- not to mention Thompson who started the first game in '05.

After reading your post, I went over to some NU boards -- lots of conspiracy theorists over there. I'm sure we'll see.

Just to be clear, i'm just repeating what others are saying...I don't necessarily buy into what others are saying could happen, especially since my only source of information about this is from online. It'll be interesting to see what happens, definitely.
