You can't predict how people are going to respond to posts so stop being so dramatic. Your sensationalism can actually set the tone for a negative discussion.
Besides, the only evil Iota is starang21 and he's too busy cutting my lawn to respond.

Does the NPHC have such large dues as the NIC? If not, then being a member of both the NPHC and NIC could still be cost-wise reasonable for an organization. The NPHC and NIC seem to focus on different fraternity issues, so there appears to be benefits to belong to both.

Yes - some Latina and multicultural sororities have joined the Campus Panhellenic and still conduct a different recruitment, but if you join the National Panhellenic Conference, all of your collegiate chapters that are on a campus with another NPC sorority would have to do recruitment the same way we do.
|
There is no NPC requirement on this. If a sorority joins the NPC, collegiate chapters would not have to do recruitment the same way unless the campus Panhel requires it. Under COB, other recruitment styles can still exist.
ETA: The NPC Unanimous Agreements do not require this, and these are what are mandatory and required. NPC policies and recommendations are not mandatory, but can be adopted by a campus Panhel.

The reason no other sororities have join NPC is because of the NPC's unanimous agreement on expansion. There are many sororities that meet the NPC joining requirements. But unlike the NIC which has an open expansion view, a NPC sorority cannot establish a chapter on a campus without the prior approval of the campus Panhel. Therefore, sororities joining the NPC would severely limit their expansion to campuses that are not “open” to NPC expansion.

Why do the guys in the pics have different hand signs - some with one finger and some with 3? I thought there was only one for the whole org. If it's super secret stuff I can't know, that's fine.
|
Also speaking as a non Iota, the national website shows the three finger sign as the official one. As for the middle finger sign, well I only know what I have been told--it's "I" for Iota.

NPC requires all NPC sororities that are not at total to participate in recruitment. I believe that Campus Panhel is able to make exceptions, but I'm not even sure about that. COB is a seperate issue, it's not an alternative to rush.

Actually, there are NPC requirements on recruitment that state that if there are 2+ NPC groups on campus, there must be at least a partially structured recruitment.

Yes, ladies, thank you for your responses.
And thank you, suntzu, for your informative response. Of course I would not want to know the meaning - just wanted clarification on why I saw 2 different ones.
And Rainman, sorry, not deleting my post. Valid question and some very helpful, positive responses. Maybe you should delete yours. Obviously an Iota himself didn't think it was something to "riot" over.

When you delve into sensitive topics such as this here on Greek Life, it's like playing Russian roulette; sometimes the gun goes "click", sometimes "bang!"
In your instance, the gun just happened to "click".
So while you rolling your eyes, don't get it twisted. Next time the gun can go "bang!"
 Back at'cha, Miss.

Hey buddy. I hope I didn't misspeak too much. I actually looked on your national website but overlooked where the official handsign was discussed.
