^^^

That's great for them. I remember she was on the View talking about how she wanted children, but it just wasn't happening for them. This is really good to hear.

As far as the Buzz, I was thinking Brandy too.

WASHINGTON - Tina Turner and Tony Bennett, two legends of American music, earned accolades from a broad array of pop and jazz stars Sunday during the Kennedy Center Honors.

In honor of Turner, Queen Latifah sang "What's Love Got to Do With It," Melissa Etheridge sang "River Deep, Mountain High" and Beyonce Knowles performed "Proud Mary."

Oprah Winfrey called herself "Tina's biggest known groupie" and spoke of seeing Turner perform live, advising the star-studded audience at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, "Add that to the list of things you do before you die."

Bennett was saluted with performances of standards like "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, "For Once in My Life," by R&B star John Legend, and "Fly Me to the Moon," by chanteuse Diana Krall.

Record producer Quincy Jones described Bennett as "a soulful messenger of American songs" and said, "Tony is the one who knows how to fly us to the moon and get us back."

Robert Redford — actor, director and creator of the Sundance independent film festival — took some potshots from Paul Newman, his co-star in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "The Sting."

Referring to Redford's reputation for lateness, Newman said, "Backstage they think the only reason he's even in the vicinity was because they told him this whole thing was yesterday."

Glenn Close called Redford "a visionary activist with the heart and soul of an artist," while Tom Brokaw dubbed him "captain of America's golden boys."

Julie Harris, a longtime veteran of stage and screen and winner of a record six Tony awards, won kudos from Kevin Spacey, who called her performances "not tricks, but transformations."

"Acting isn't what she does, it's who she is," Spacey said. Harris' films include "The Member of the Wedding," "East of Eden" and "Reflections in a Golden Eye."

Dancer Suzanne Farrell was feted by her former colleague at the New York City Ballet, Jacques d'Amboise. The company, led by George Balanchine, "was the center of American ballet and she was the diamond in its crown," d'Amboise said.

Farrell was the lead dancer in Balanchine-choreographed ballets such as "Meditation" and "The Nutcracker." She is now an instructor.

Earlier Sunday, the members of the 28th annual class of honorees were welcomed by President Bush and first lady Laura Bush at a White House reception.

"Each of these honorees, in a lifetime of achievement, has set a standard of excellence that is admired throughout the world," the president said.

The Kennedy Center Honors will be broadcast Dec. 27 on CBS.

Farrell is a Professor of Dance at Florida State University. Go Seminoles! I just thought I'd point that out. I love my alma mater!

Foxy Brown Nearly "Totally" Deaf
By Houston Williams
Date: 12/6/2005 12:31 am

Foxy Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is nearly deaf according to her lawyer, who made the announcement after a court appearance on Monday.

Attorney Joseph Tacopina made the revelation at Manhattan Criminal Court after he was seen passing notes with the rapper in court, reports the New York Daily News.

“She’s pretty much totally deaf now,” Tacopina said. “She can’t hear me. We have to write things back and forth. Anything I have to communicate with her now has to be written. It’s dialogue, communication.”

The Def Jam artist has already undergone one surgical procedure to relieve her hearing loss and is expected to have another to help restore her ability to listen. “Hopefully it is reversible. She has to undergo another surgery,” Tacopina said.

Earlier this year, Brown revealed she suffers from a rare condition called sudden sensorineural hearing loss in both ears. "I started breaking down in tears and screaming and I couldn't even hear myself scream,” she explained to People magazine. "I know God is working on me. I'm on a personal journey. I believe God wants to be the only voice I hear right now. I know I will be all right."

In addition to her health condition, Foxy Brown must contend with her legal status, where the 25 year old stands charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment.

Brown is accused of punching and kicking two employees of a nail salon after they allegedly refused to let her leave the salon without paying her bill. According to the Daily News, Judge Melissa Jackson adjourned the case until December 23. Brown has steadfastly maintained her innocence and rejected two plea deals that would have kept her out of jail.

Brown reportedly turned down the deals to avoid a criminal record and to circumvent a costly civil suit.

Brown’s highly anticipated album, Black Roses, is expected to hit stores in 2006 in spite of her legal and health matters.

I know her hearing loss is not a new issue, but I am saddened to read that it is apparently getting worse, and that the surgery does not seem to be helping.

Are they having her fitted for hearing aides?

ETA: I didn't know she had problems.

Maybe Tweet?
Get rid of Mona Scott and get a new record label.

I think it's Brandy. Remember a year or two ago she had that bout with Anorexia and depression? Her last album didn't do too well and her engagement was broken off with NBA player, Quentin Richardson recently. Just a guess.

I don't think that all forms of hearing loss respond to hearing aids.

I think it's her too. She has had a rough past few years. Her last two albums have not done as well as expected, though I loved them both. Her sham marriage was exposed, and to top it all off, she is now signed to Ray J's record label, and we KNOW that is a sign of decline. She was 'released' from her last label home.

Still, she has a new TV show pilot. That should have picked her up. Then, if the pilot isn't given the green light...

I don't know if Ms. Lee is Big Daddy Joe's side piece. I was startled to see the pic. I know he's got $$$ but I never thought he'd run with the Upper East Side crew.

Eva Pigford celebrated her 21 birthday last night with her new boyfriend, New York Jets football player Kerry Rhodes (above, right) at New York nightclub Lotus nightclub November 29. Eva is no longer dating actor Henry Simmons (above, left) after she found out that he had the flavor for both male and female suitors. "I'm just totally over it" said Eva. It just hurts when you put your all into someone and they break your heart that way," she said.

I heard that they did break up. They were so quick to get married and it all fell flat....good thing they did break up before walking down the alise.

About the source, I don't know I would trust it. I think a lot of false info have come from that website. Examples: Christoper Williams dying, Usher becoming a dad, Laiah Ali and Queen Latifiah dating...you get the picture.

I am glad this source is unreliable; I love Henry...but I still think that ascot is not right.
