If it's hot outside, dress weather appropriately and you won't sweat profusely.

If you are walking across campus in 90 degree weather you don't sweat? Do you have turbo deoderant?

I didn't think they were big right now, they've always been big among a certain group of people, a la Brooks Brothers and Boat and Totes.

I get most of the major fashion magazines. Haven't seen 'em.
And they would maybe look okay with jeans or khakis and a sweater.
But not a sweatshirt. Ewwww.

Still, who wears nice shoes with t-shirts? Or can you just not wear sneakers?

I haven't seen anybody wear boat shoes since the 1980s, thank goodness. Like tapered jeans, they are never okay.

And weren't they more of a men's thing anyway? I remember my dad had them. I remember being a little kid and slipping my feet into them and running out to the mailbox. They were like flippers, lol.

Topsiders are all over my campus (I'm in grad school though)...and we are only an 1 hr from the ocean.
and I like hoodies but I don't usually wear them to class.
I wear clogs or comfy flats with my jeans and T-shirts...
I never wore my Letter shirts with tennis shoes when I was an undergrad... but that's because I only where tennis shoes to the gym and letter shirts do not go to the gym

Theres a huge different between sweating slightly under your arms and sweating profuse on your face. I personally, don't sweat heavily, even under physical exertion. And who really walks around with sweat pooled under their arms? That sounds like a personal problem.
P.S. shoes don't always mean heels. I've worn letters with ballet flats

According to the teenager in my life, "everybody" wears them in college and hs. When she was angling for a pair, she pointed them out everywhere we visited from Northwestem and Notre Dame (no letters there) to Wake and UVa. I did see quite a lot of them being worn with letters.
I don't think they are necessarily fashionable but they are classic.

oh yeah, another thing about exercising or sleeping in letters. Would you exercise or sleep in your favorite Lacoste polo, or an expensive designer dress? So why would you sleep in the letters of an organization you pledged your heart to for life?

A short list-
No:
drinking in letters
exercizing in letters
sleeping in letters
letters on the butt
letters as footwear
letters as underwear
cursing in letters
letters in places where alcohol is being served (such as bar or club)
Must:
wear shoes (no sneakers!) when wearing letters (including umbrellas, bags, jackets)
look polished when in letters

That's some bullshit.

Haha yes I would to the Lacoste polo part. They happen to be pretty great for playing tennis or golf during the summer, and are pretty darn comfy for sleeping (okay maybe not a polo, but their t-shirts).
I love boat shoes. I hate wearing sneakers and boat shoes make a great alternative for the summer.
As for what we can and can't do, our "rules" generally apply to when we're in letters or not:
- sit while smoking (no walking through campus with a cig lit up)
- be presentable (not hungover, disheveled)
- no dancing on chairs/tables
- no drinking in any form of letters
ETA: wow I just realized that I mentioned the summer twice in my post. It's not hard to see where my mind is!!
