Around the time I was 8 my parents got really nervous that they hadn't been giving us a religious upbringing. So, my mom shipped my sister and I off to CCD every Wed afternoon, and I got baptized and had my first communion in the same year (I think my mom might still have the dresses I wore). Then, after I had gone to a few services and her mind was settled a bit, everything stopped.
I guess if I have to pick a group to identify with, I would pick the Catholic one, but I don't really believe in the fundamental theology, and I certianly don't agree with the Catholic social stance. Now that I think about it, that wouldn't really make me Catholic at all, would it?

Thumbs up

Was Southern Babtist, left ! Oh about the age of 4.

Did not do anything for several years and went to Anglican Church!

Much better being an Anglican Catholic than Roman Catholic, had English, Drank Wine and Priest could get married first.

Still went to different Churches to see what was up. Jewish, Pedestrian, Greek Othodox, Methodist, Christian.

Amazing, all talked about a supreme being. Just did it, a different spin on it.

It is also amazing how people will talk about Mine IS Better than yours.

What is felt comfortable is good for you!

All is different, but in many ways the same.

I hear you! I go when I'm home and help out with the music ministry, either as a cantor or instrumentalist. I can't sit still through Mass otherwise.

I consider myself Christian. I don't tend to specify. I believe what I believe and haven't really found a place that fits with all of that yet. Then again, I haven't looked very hard because it's not easy to find time with school, especially when school is in a reeeeeally tiny town!

If my deacon-in-training father heard any of this, he'd have the biggest fit ever...

I am a member of the church of Christ, but it's not a denomination.

The Catholic Church is okay with its members having differing opinions about certain dogma. There are exceptions like the Eucharist and basically everything in the Nicene Creed. Other than that though, the Church is very accepting of divergent viewpoints (even though there are some within that would claim otherwise).

There are a few reasons I prefer my church. Probably the biggest is the history behind it. Most of the greatest religious scholars of all time have been Catholics -- St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Anthony, yes, even Martin Luther

If you haven't, check out parts of Aquinas' Summae Theoligicae. It's HUGE, but you can probably find a 'condensed' version if you're really really bored. I had to study it in HS (Catholic HS) and it was very interesting stuff.

Good luck in your search though.
