our founders are:
Clara Bradley Burdette
Hattie Florence Chidester Lukens
Martha Emily Foote Crow
Ida Arabella Gilbert DeLamanter Houghton
Jane Sara Higham
Kate Elizabeth Hogoboom Gilbert
Elizabeth Grace Hubbell Shults
Rena A. Michaels Atchison
Louise Viola Shepard Hancock
Clara Sittser Williams

i've never really tried to think of a name from my glo, but there are some names that someone might think i got from a.phi. and now i'll probably try to incorporate a.phi into my children's names
i've always loved the name elizabeth grace. i also like rena and clara.
and i may name a child lillie (short for lillian).

The Founders of Alpha Phi
  • Clara Bradley Wheeler Baker Burdette
  • Hattie Florence Chidester Lukens
  • Martha Emily Foote Crow
  • Ida Arabella Gilbert DeLamanter Houghton
  • Jane Sara Higham
  • Kate Elizabeth Hogoboom Gilbert
  • Elizabeth Grace Hubbell Shults
  • Rena A. Michaels Atchison
  • Louise Viola Shepard Hancock
  • Clara Sittser Williams
My family has a thing for naming their children names that begin with an 'A'. I want to follow that tradition, so the only name I would consider after the Founders would be Arabella, which I really like.

Wink Well...

I wasn't blessed with any girls, but with 3 boys there is no way to weave Alpha Gam into their name...especially with our beloved squirrel mascot. They all do act "squirrely' however.

I agree I know people naming their animals after mascots like their fish or pets or naming them after founders. I dont know anyone calling their kids alpha or delta or anything. Delta Burke lol...

Im not so sure I could call any future children I may have Pi or something lol... Though Violet is a beautiful name. I would be scared maybe theyd think I was pushing them too much to go greek and adpi later on so i dont know......
