I was wondering if there was a red/red & white theme day this year too.
I'm still striking out on the hat, darn it. If I was still in Louisville it would be NO problem! Oh well, worst case scenario I'm hatless...as long as I'm there I'll be happy!

Okay, I live in a small town with no mall. I was at Wal-Mart last night and they have really cute hats! They have black hats for $3.88 and you could doll them up with flowers and ribbons from their craft section. It migth sound cheesy but I really think you could make it cute! I saw a hat at this boutique on the Oxford Square, but it will probably be pricey!

If you have enough to do 2, would you make me one too? I'll pay you for it
OMG--My boss suggested that I go to Walmart and pick up a straw hat, ribbon and roses to make my own hat. Now, SnowLady can tell you that I am *completely* uncoordinated and lack the "crafty" gene. So, I got a white straw hat, some really cute red & white polka dotted ribbon and a bunch of roses this afternoon. My boss (angel that she is) is going to help me put it all together because she definitely has the crafty artist gene!

Okay so I just called the store on the Oxford Square to see how much this gorgeous bright green hat was I saw last night while I was power walking.....
$352
The girl asked if I wanted to come in and try it on! HA!
It must be made by some blind nuns in switzerland!
By the way, the store (M W2) has really nice things but I won't spend that much on a hat! Clothes, earrings, purses, but not a hat!

Does that hat do your hair when you take it off?
It should for that price!

I got a hat today at Macy's. It's not the classy fluffy kind of hat I was hoping for - but I guess I'm going for the Cosmopolitan High Tea.
Speaking of Cosmos.... hmmmm I might have to find a High Cosmo after the High Tea. lol

I'm getting excited about Convention! Oh and in the Emporium Fashion Show this year, look for two Nu Beta collegians! They are from the big ATL and so they volunteered to model!

Christin's Hat Update (or why I should NEVER be permitted to try anything even slightly crafty or creative)
You may recall I decided to make my hat rather than go hatless, even though I am the least crafty person on Planet Earth. So, I got some hot glue sticks tonight at WalMart and came home to put it all together. I'm not quite sure, but I don't think I've ever actually used a hot glue gun before this evening. Ever.
So, the ribbon went on well enough. I had to redo that only twice and it's still not quite right in the back. I don't know whether to try to make a big bow or just trim off the ends or what.
Then, the roses. I set them out quite nicely, but still had to re-do them because in the midst of gluing them on they got crooked. I gave up after injuing myself (keep reading) and they're still crooked. Oh well, it's a pile of red roses on the back of a cute white straw hat. That's GOOD, right?
Finally, about the hat-making injury (if you're not laughing your head off at me at this point ) Well, I managed to drop a glob of hot glue on a finger. At least I figured out quickly that the hot glue really WAS hot. I have a quite lovely blister, although repeated cold water baths keep it happy enough to share this story with you. Yes, I actually did have to go online to find out what degree burn it is!
Thank you for reading, and please humor me when you see me and the darned hat at Convention.

Oh Christin! What a story! In case you decide to get crafty again, there is a tool called a LOW-TEMP glue gun. It doesn't get nearly as hot but I find that it works just as well. No blisters or scars!
If I don't find a hat this afternoon, I am going without.
