The only other 2 schools I looked at were Berry College (Rome, GA) and Western Carolina University (NC). But when I stepped foot on Auburn's campus, I knew this was the place for me!

I actually wished I would have given a shit during the whole college app process.
Academics were never a priority in my household. My perents were all that "as long as you tried" crap. I never tired. I just did the minimum to get by. My ACT's were great and I didnt even really try. Had I done Kaplan and taken the SAT's, I couldda kicked ass. Had I applied myself, I could have graduated in the top 5% of my class and gone where ever I wanted. Instead, I just went where my sister did because our uncle was on staff there.
Granted, I like my life now, and so many things would have been different so I cant lament what happened.
Off the top of my head, had I done better in HS and gone anywhere, (knowing what I know now) I might have chosen from the following list: Old Miss, Clemson, Stanford, UT, Ohio State, LSU, UNC or Columbia

I really wanted to go to either Smith College or the University of Washington. I knew that there was no way in hell I could get into Smith, so I ended up not even applying there. I was fairly certain I could get into Washington, so initially I only applied there. A couple of weeks later, the Jacksonville Gator Boosters were having a reception/recruitment event for all the National Merit Semifinalists. Having been a lifelong Gator-hater, I didn't want to go. At the reception, they gave all of us these gorgeous orange and blue embossed applications that basically said give us your $20 app fee, and you'll be automatically accepted. Something told me I should probably go ahead and turn in the app, even though I still didn't want to go to Florida. Its a good thing I did though, because my Washington rejection came a few days later. I was heartbroken. In a panic over not getting into Washington, I thought that maybe Florida would reject me too, even though they had said admission was guaranteed. So when University of North Florida came to my high school to do instant admissions for the dual enrollment students, I went ahead applied and was immediately accepted there. Going to UNF would have been like grade 13 though, so I knew I wasn't going there except as a last resort. In the end, Florida kept their promise and admitted me a few weeks later. I decided to go there for a semester, and then try to transfer. But after having been there just a short time, I realized that I loved UF, and that I didn't want to transfer anywhere else.

If I didn't goto Sac State and money wasn't a factor:
i would have gone to University of Wyoming for their Zoology Program OR
Humboldt State for their Ecology/Zoology/Biology Programs.
Also I would of spent a year in Denmark for the study abroad program in Marine Biology.

i applied at
Siena College
SUNY - Oswego
UNLV
College Of Charleston
i was dead set on siena, i loved it, and still do .. but realized that i wanted to get out of new york, so i decided that i was going to go to college of charleston, in sc, and was all ready to go there until my parents decided that they wanted to move to vegas ... and it was right around the time of 9/11 and my crazy mother would not let me fly alone anywhere to save my life, so SC was out of the picture.... and i had been accepted to UNLV, so i was like uhh.. ok whatever... for grad school, im thinking about going back east to SC or even maybe back to NY - or somewhere in socal, i absolutely adore UCSD and UCSB ... and im a journalism/history major so the LA area would be a great place for me to get started.. as would the NYC area . so who knows...

It came down to University of Rhode Island and Stockton. I was seriously OBSESSED with RI for some reason in hs.
I really REALLY REALLY wanted to be a tar heel...but every time I tried to visit the school, a hurricane hit. After the 3rd try, I thought I should take a hint.

I came soooo close to going to Alabama...I went to orientation, had a dorm, had a roommate, had a SCHEDULE!!! I had gone to orientation at Ole Miss too..and I went there first...and the whole time I was at orientation at Bama, I was just unhappy. But I had been RAISED to go there. And in about July...I decided for sure that I was going to Ole Miss. I just liked it better. I was also accepted to Tennessee (my sister went there) but I decided against that early. My life would definitely be different. But I wouldn't ever change anything!

I was DEAD set against applying to ANY schools in California....I wanted to get the heck out of dodge!
I wound up applying to:
* University of Wyoming
* Montana State University - Bozeman
* Northern State University (Aberdeen, SD)
* Bradley University
* Valparaiso University
* Purdue University
I also wound up being accepted to all six (yeah, that didn't help with trying to make a decision! )
My top choice was U of Wyoming, but I compromised with my parents (who were concerned about me being so far from home with no family around since I had health concerns) and attended Valparaiso University, and I've never regretted it since then....although, it could've been wonderful to be at Bradley, since my cousin wound up going there the year after I started, so we could've wound up living together for at least two years, I'm sure!

I was originally planning to go to the UofA (university of arkansas) but ASU gave me money. UofA didn't. Oh well. glad I didn't. If I had gone there i would have never become a phi mu!

That is one thing i hear among all my arkansas friends is that they fought constantly trying to get fin aid money. Arkansas wasn't generous when it came to giving out money.
My roommmate devised a plan and dropped out unoffically and went to work for Uof A and then took advantage of the tuition free beneift they gave.

I was set on Butler. They have a great dance program that concentrates on ballet. My dance teacher told me to go there. I got accepted to the school but still had to audition. I didn't get accepted to the dance program. Apparently my dance teacher didn't take into acount that with my "womanly" figure, there was no way on earth I was ever going to be a ballerina! So, last minute I applied to Western Michigan - whose dance program is also great and actually prepared me much better for my modern/jazz dance career.
I loved Butler's campus, though. And they have a Kappa chapter (Mom is a Kappa) so I always wonder what if....

I wanted to attend Eastern Illinois University to be with my best friend...but they didn't have my major (but they do have ASA so I might have still found my home there)...
Illinois State did have my major but it was too close to home (45 minutes, 30 if traffic was really moving) and I hate the fact that they have a major street running right through campus.
