With Miami's performance vs Rutgers (RUTGERS!) I know they'll be losing a few of those first place votes to Oklahoma. Hell.. who knows they deserve to lose all of them.. Oklahoma (as usual) pulled of the W against Colorado. A good game by Colorado but Chris Brown (formerly a Heisman candidate) was shut down completely and actually lost a fumble or two.
Both teams played very well though. After Colorado's play I'd expect Oklahoma will have to face them in a rematch for the Big 12 Championship.

My Poor Huskers...
Got back from one of the most up and down games I've ever been to.
The game is 20-17 when Texas scores a touchdown with about 3 minutes to go. So it's 27-17, Texas kicks it short for some reason. We score in like 40 seconds and it's 24-27.
Texas gets a good return on the kickoff, and we get them to 3rd and 7...Roy Williams catches his 14th pass for the first down, and then like 30 seconds after the play is called dead, a flag comes in and the call is offensive pass interference. So it becomes 3rd and 22, which Texas runs the ball to kill the clock. They have to punt to DeJuan Groce who has returned like 4 punts for touchdowns this year, and is leading the NCAA in average return yardage.
The students always chant his name for each punt.
That one sequence right there was huge emotionally, b/c of the disappointment on the first down, to the penalty...
They punt to Groce, and he returns it to the Texas 16 with like 36 seconds or something. The place goes F***ing nuts...absolute pandomonium. I jumped between 4 different rows...It was the most electric atmoshpere I've ever been in. Incredible.
Nebraska runs one option play to the short side of the field for no gain and with like 16 seconds, it is fairly obvious that we should take one shot at the end zone and then kick the field goal to tie. Well, you would think that you wouldn't make the throw unless the guy was wide open...you'd just throw it away if it wasn't there. Well Jammal Lord throws into DOUBLE COVERAGE and it gets picked off at the one yard line!!! Everyone just stood in disbelief...with ten seconds left it was done and it was weird to have the energy of 30 seconds before just sucked out of you.
Anyways, we had every opportunity to win this game, including some missed field goals and turnovers on downs. I certainly hope that we don't lose the confidence we had coming in, b/c we really did outplay Texas (not that they played poorly - Chris Sims had something like 420 passing yards, and Roy Williams had 13 catches).

Scott - You're smarter than this - Illinois got worked in the Sugar Bowl, but it was a freaking HOME GAME for LSU, and LSU was dropped into that game (although they should have been higher) due to crowd issues. It was a complete mismatch, all the way.

Iowa beat the crap out of ISU in the first half, then some injuries helped Seneca Wallace along - the most prominent was SS Bob Sanders going down, allowing Wallace to throw over the middle w/ no reprocussion, and Freddy Russell getting injured, killing the Iowa running game. It wasn't "domination" by ISU - it was a second half marred by injuries, and Wallace going nuts. See today's game for another example - he had 492 total yards. He doesn't suck as much as I'd wish (although I hate him).

I won't disagree - but both teams beat WSU IMO. I honestly think OSU is the best team in the Big 10, but I would rather have Iowa locked into the Rose Bowl, b/c the Pac-10 opponent will be of lower caliber than the respective opponent in the Sugar Bowl (most likely UGA) . . .
Either way, I'll be at a bowl game again this year - that's fantastic, no matter what.

The Coach's poll just came out.. The Big 12 South still dominant
Oklahoma picked up 7 more of Miami's 1st place votes after Miami nearly lost at Rutgers... Should have been more but I expect the AP poll to be a lot more dramatic.

Rob, I would rather see Iowa in the rose bowl, because who cares about that game, and Ohio St in the only bowl game that matters this year (fiesta). But Wazzou is a good team and they are no Michigan or Wisconsin.
Is the rule in place where if Ohio St is #2, than they bypass the rose bowl for the title game? I sure hope so.
Weekends like this are arguments against a playoff because four unbeatens got run yesterday. Three unbeatens left, four if you count BG .

That's true too - and there's 100% a rule where the Big 10 champ will bypass the Rose Bowl if they get seeded into the BCS title game, which would work out excellent for all parties involved.

Anyone check out the new BCS rankings?
1. OU
2. OSU
3. Miami
4. Texas
5. Wash. state
6. Georgia
7. ND
8. IOWA
9. USC
10. VT
there's a very small computer average difference between OSU(2.33) and Miami(2.67) and Miami has a much stronger schedule here on out while OSU really only has Michigan. For some reason ND has a #3 ranking even though they lost to an unranked team and USC has 2 losses and has a #3 ranking (probably b/c their strength of schedule is #1)
Who does everyone pick for the big bowls - Fiesta, Rose, Orange & Sugar?

I still think Oklahoma will be in the Fiesta, and I believe Iowa will be in the Rose...as for the rest, I'll weigh in later.

I watched the Nebraska game on and off until I saw Herian catch that pass in the 4th quarter and I was glued to my TV. Emotional rollercoaster is the best way to describe it...and I was only watching on TV! Even though we lost, this game gave me so much more confidence. This weekend will be much better with Kansas, plus it's homecoming!
My Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are 9-0 and currently rated #4 in D-2. The sad thing is that since I'm so used to Nebraska football and how huge it is, I've found that with the exception of our stomping of Pitt State KS at Arrowhead a couple weeks ago ( Earp...are you over that one yet?) it's really hard to get into Bearcat football. It's fun and all, but not nearly at the same level as Nebraska football (even if they're losing). Once a Husker, always a Husker!

Miami has some decent teams left on their schedule.. Tennessee (which is now healthier) Pittsburgh has been good recently, Va Tech... One problem still remains. It's STILL THE BIG EAST. Their only true test will be in their bowl game against Oklahoma.
And Oklahoma will win

In Honor of wasted seasons
For the love of all that's holy!!!
We start a true freshman quarterback and beat the number 1 team in the country....but in that same season we have to suffer losses to ITexasTech, Okie State and a less than par Nebraska????
As i drank in celebration saturday night, it was tempered a bit by the fact that we had the potential this year to actually contend for a Big XII title, now we're just left to play the role of spoiler to Texas. It's freakin frustrating.
I really hope that this has no influence on RC keeping his job. Regardless if we win out and upset t.u. in Austin, (which i'm not holding my breath for) he needs to be held accountable for the early season failures.
I'm glad the Ags won, but i see this as more of an indicator of where we SHOULD be, rather than where we are.
Gig 'em,
Kitso
KS 361 dollars i would pay to be the one that tells RC that Highway 6 runs both ways, and to get the hell out!!
