Every year I have one or two women who decide not to sign rather than join the one group they have left. Most, however, are at least willing to give it a try.

I think this is great. I would love to see this become the norm for recruitment and would love the chance to volunteer in that capacity as an alum. I think that someone that is impartial and has no bias could truly counsel women to make the decision that is right for them. I think that the placement percentages touted by some schools make them feel good but what percent of that actually make it to initiation.

I did it last winter for a local university where my sorority is not represented. It was really interesting to see how the girls handled the process. I wished the girls were a bit more introspective about their options, but they were virtually all 100% confident in their decision. The only questions I got tended to be about the MRABA itself. I was glad for the girls who actually took a moment to think about the fact that they were signing a contract and what that might mean.

I helped this year at Arizona MRABA signing. I had some questions and even a few who
wanted to talk things through. We had a number of Tucson Panhellenic members helping as well as UofArizona staff members. It was a long day, we processed a lot of women, but so worth it.

Seriously, why is this not happening at EVERY school in the nation? I also loved Clemsongirl's school idea of only having as many women on the floor at one time during recruitment as the smallest chapter on campus had. I believe that BOTH ideas would help women see beyond the "tiers" and realize that being Greek is so much more than letter shirts and Bid Day fun.

It is supposed to as NPC passed this change a few years ago. I imagine there are some schools/areas of the country that are still working secure the number of volunteers or staff needed to make it work. Hopefully someday soon!

If you check your Green Book, NPC Manual of Information, you will see that recruitment counselors are not allowed in the room with the PNMs when they sign their bid cards. I know many of you do not know how to access a copy on your group's web site. I'll see if we can post one here.
