oh my... (more threats)
I hope you hear from whoever changes screen names soon so this can all just end...
And please keep in mind that people take their sorority/fraternity affiliation seriously and have worked hard to earn those letters, they wear proudly.

Heard from my sister, finally! She attended one preference party today and LOVED it. She has shown a lot of maturity throughout the recruitment process and I am so proud of her! Can't wait for tomorrow. Good luck to all the other sisters/moms/friends/rec writers and the PNMs they're rooting for today!

She indicated that parties were scheduled for 1)noon 2) 1:20pm 3) 2:40pm if that helps anyone. I don't get a play-by-play account from her, which is good in that this is totally her experience. I know she is tired, though, and happy that the process is almost over (in a good way!).

Awesome! It looks like all good news so far for PNMs in this thread.

I'd say that moms sipping Mimosas at a brunch probably conjures an image more sedate and organized than it actually is -- but there is no doubt that Bid Day is an economic boost to the local gift shops and florists!

To be honest, it's really Tuesday or Wednesday, once the alcohol and boys restrictions are lifted, that things really get going.

Now THIS is the type of conversation I consider fun and positive!!! yeah!!!! Daughter actually called in between parties and said the girls at the houses are so incredibly warm and nice. She is having a very wonderful day so far. I do think she will have a hard time at pref time, though….she is always wary of hurting others' feelings…ha! Heartofsec: I want to 'celebrate' on YOUR campus! HQWest: those are BEAUTIFUL gifts!! arrowlady: I think I'll be sending something more along what you did, so as not to give the hubby a $$ stroke! BEST OF LUCK to all!

When I was a pledge at Bama, I don't think I was even given a lavalier until we were matched with our Big Sisters. Of course this was also back in the day when, unless your mom was an alum of your chapter and happened to be there on bid day, you called her (eventually) with the news, long distance, from a landline.
The Big Sis/Little Sis 'event' has changed a lot over the years too -- on my dd's campus this was quite the craft smackdown, and involved an excessive (IMO) amount of sorority-related accessories, decor and sportswear (last I heard, however, common-sense limits were being imposed -- thankfully).
