ktrxo - I became SO invested in your story and am absolutely thrilled for you. However, all the congratulations absolutely need to go to Kappa Alpha Theta on their selection of such a wonderful New Member!
Whoever mentioned that you need to spend as much time at the house (meals!) as possible is correct...enjoy this time and have fun making new friends!

Day 4: Philanthropy Day
Today I woke up excited to start the day! I had philanthropy day parties with two of my favorite sororities from the previous round, Mad Men and Hell's Kitchen.
Mad Men - This was my absolute favorite sorority from Ice Water Teas, and I was so excited to go back! I love their philanthropy. I have a very personal connection to it. However, I was a little bit disappointed because the girl I talked to did not seem as passionate about their philanthropy as the girls I met in other houses. The conversation was a little awkward, and she seemed disinterested. I still liked this sorority though because I know one girl does not represent the whole house!
Modern Family - I enjoyed this house; I got to talk to quite a few girls. At first I wasn't very interested in their philanthropy, but after there presentation, I really wanted to be apart of it.
Hell's Kitchen - I liked this house as well. I had three really great, smooth conversations with some of the girls. I felt like I was talking to old friends. I liked that their presentation was brief, and instead they had the girls tell you about their personal experiences with the philanthropy.
Voting: Voting was really easy for me tonight. We had to rank our top 8 sororities in no particular order. Since I only had six, I had no trouble ranking at all! If I had to rank them in order though, this is what it would have looked like:
1. Millionaire Matchmaker
2. Hell's Kitchen
3. The Bachelor
4. Modern Family
5. Mad Men
6. Law and Order

Day 5: Skit Day
This morning was spent staring anxiously at my phone, waiting for the call saying I had been dropped from recruitment. Thankfully, it never came. I headed down to sorority row to meet my Rho Chi and get my schedule. I was excited because I thought I had had good conversations at most of parties and hopefully made a good impression on the sororities. Although I was praying for a schedule with 6 parties, I was grateful to still be in the running at all. It seemed like there had been a LOT of girls who were either dropped from recruitment or dropped out. Our Rho Chi group seemed to be shrinking.
Finally my Rho Chi handing me my schedule, and I opened it eagerly:
Millionaire Matchmaker
Wow. I only had one party left. All of the other chapters dropped me. At first I was shocked and hurt. I had been feeling good about myself after the last round, but this just came as a blow to me. I felt worthless and bad about myself. I wished I looked a different way, I wished I was better at making friends, I wished I hadn't even come here at all. I know I should not have felt this way over a sorority, but when you put your heart and soul (not to mention countless hours obtaining recommendation letter and shopping for new outfits) into something and do nothing but eat, breathe, and sleep it for a week, rejection really hurts.
Thankfully, I didn't have a party today, so I had time to go back to my dorm and recuperate. After much thinking, praying, and talking on the phone to my mom, I realized that the sororities who dropped me were missing out, and that I still had one that wanted me. I LOVED the one sorority that still wanted me. I realized so many girls only had houses they didn't like left or had none at all! I was blessed. I was nervous, but also excited for the party tomorrow.

Day 7: Preference Day
Today was preference day! I was so excited to be invited back to Millionaire Matchmaker! Because of "maximizing my options" if I still like MM and ranked them on my preference card, then I was guaranteed a bid! I will admit, even though MM was one of my favorites from the beginning, I was a little nervous because I was afraid something might happen or I would decide that I didn't like the house.
I headed down to sorority row for one of my last times as a PNM and received my schedule. The sky was dark and the forecast indicated rain. Although I didn't have to worry about being cut my MM, I still wanted to look my best, so I prayed for the rain to stay away, both for my sake and for the sake of all the other PNM who looked so beautiful today!
Millionaire Matchmaker - Today was much more serious and somber than the previous days. Some of the sisters sang, and it was so beautiful it gave me goosebumps; I could tell that many of the sisters put their hearts into it because they were crying. I was then paired with the same girl who rushed me for Skit Round. I was so happy to see her again! The sisters then spoke about what their sisterhood had meant to them and why there were proud to be in MM. It was very emotional and almost brought me to tears. They then played a video with pictures of their sisterhood, which was also very moving. After the presentation I was able to talk privately with the girl who rushed me. We shared both personal feelings and laughs; it truly felt like we had known each other forever. I was sad to leave, but also excited because I realized I had found my home. This week had been horrible and chaotic at times, but in the end it was all worth it. I found a house that I not only loved, but also that wanted me. I will confess that I did cry a few tears of both joy and relief that this stressful week was finally coming to an end.
Tonight I ranked my one and only house without any doubt or hesitation. I knew I belonged there. As I walked out of voting, I saw so many PNMs who were either crying or had a torn look on their face. I prayed that they too would be able to find a house they loved as much as I did!
Tomorrow is Bid Day, and it can't come fast enough!

A Few Notes
Sorry my post about preference round was kind of cheesy and cliched. I really meant everything I said though (and I think I'm extra emotional because of this long, stressful week). Thank you all so much for all of your support and prayers! It's great to have so many people on your side.
Also, I want to apologize for my choice of television shows! I know MM is not the most appropriate show (it's the definition of a guilty pleasure!) and I hope I didn't offend anyone!
I'm so excited for tomorrow! I will definitely reveal which sorority is my new home after Bid Day!

Oh, please don't apologize for your description of your pref. I know there probably a lot of lumps in throats, as that is EXACTLY what should happen at a pref, and you probably brought back a lot of fond memories.
As for offending anyone with the MM choice (...since I was the one who made the quadi-snarky post about MM), there was no offense taken at all. I was just commenting on the irony of how we were following the story of a very classy, articulate and thoughtful person who was about to join a sorority who obviously recognized and valued those qualities, and the random name assigned to that sorority happened to be a show about folks who show NONE of those qualities...lol
Wishing you and your new home a delightful bid day!
