As I posted in the other thread, just in case ellebud doesn't get the page:

"The red dress is very flashy. Preference is not a flashy occasion. Neither is it a funeral or wedding. Where are the GC young'uns who've posted some darling dresses? Or ...

ellebud!"

Good luck with recruitment!

FWIW (and because I just like looking at dresses so much) these are some of my PNM winter choices for pref:

(With nude heels or black tights/heels...and without the sunglasses. )

I also think some of the above are a bit too mature for our age group as well. Although many are very pretty they are something I picture myself in at an older age.

I like this one from Macy's:
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...D1%26spc%3D363

And from Dillards, I honestly picked the exact same blue dress as KSUViolet, then thought to check what she posted. I think that one would be lovely if you can pull off that color of blue.

LOVE this one from LuLus:

Also LuLus:

LuLus (though I think it needs a camisole under it)

I think I've posted this before but I am in love with it (LuLus)

Ok. I'm going to stop now, but I could dress shop for hours! *The red one is my favorite!!!!*

The problems with the Shelli Segal dresses as pictured are:

1. The models are posing skankily.
2. The tights and shoes.

The SS Laundry dresses I see are ALWAYS tasteful, and those would probably all look fine if they were worn with the appropriate accessories and attitude.

I really like the bronzy colored one and the rose print one in the other posts.

Also, remember:

1. If you're wearing a dress that's a little bare, do not make it "partay friendly." No CFM shoes. No glitter upon glitter or super dark makeup. Medium heels that elongate your legs and flatter are great, but not ones that you'll fall over in or that look like they should be bedroom accessories only. And pretty, soft makeup.
2. If you're a 34A you can wear barer dresses than someone who's a 36C could. It might look faboo on the model who's a size 0 but unless you also are, tread lightly. This is where that quote "know thyself" comes into play.
3. If you're ordering online - either order in PLENTY of time to send it back and get something else if it doesn't work, or order several things and send back the ones you don't pick.

This is why I dislike the show and tell pref dresses. Who knows what the girls look like that are seeking advice. We all know women who wear outfits that are completely wrong for them just because it's the hot look. Ask your Recruitment Counselor what is appropriate or when in doubt, get something that is cute on YOU without being skanky. These dresses, while all cute, may look HORRIBLE on anyone else.

LOL at "skankily"...is that a word? Some years ago, we had a discussion about whether 'hickily" is a valid adverb. I say yes to both!

Have you actually ordered anything from Lulu's before? I freaking love almost everything they have but I've never actually bought anything from there...is it as cute in person?

One of my sisters orders stuff from LuLu's all the time. While the clothing looks the way it is pictured, because it is an inexpensive line, the material does not always feel as great as it looks, and sometimes doesn't fit like you might expect. I love those dresses, especially the last one with the white top, but I'd warn against ordering it as a last minute only-option thing as it might not work in person.

By the way, hi everyone, I decided to stop lurking and actually make a username and post things

I have actually not ordered from there. but I have found the SAME dresses at a store in downtown State College and bought from them.
There have also been a few dresses we've seen at Strawberry, including the one I bought downtown, for cheaper.
The ones I've seen and bought hold up to the photos on LuLu's and are of good quality (not like buying from Forever21)
As far as what GeorgiaGreek said, there are different brands of dresses (it's not like LuLu's branded) so I think quality would vary based on the individual clothing you buy, but I've been satisfied with what I've got (identical from downtown/Strawberry)

I probably will order in the future, but I can't usually justify spending a lot of money on clothes while I'm still in school.

Good call on the bolded, that's definitely something to consider.

Yeah we have a couple of Lotus boutiques around here that sell a few things I see on Lulu's (and Modcloth, they obviously buy from some of the same places) but they aren't any cheaper, I'm just saving on shipping. So I'm considering sucking it up on the shipping since Lotus only carries a few of each item and half the time they're out of my size.

If you love it, do it.
I mean you can always return if you really really hate it in person.
Honestly, I'm considering ordering that red dress I posted with my Christmas money.
