If I was to say that, unequivocally, rape victims precipitate their own victimization and are to blame for their circumstances, I'm positive many people wouldn't be thrilled regardless of whether or not they have ever been raped. I've sometimes agreed with you in other threads and I respect you in the sense that we've both been moderators on GC together for many, many years. But, I have to say, you've really painted yourself to be an arrogant, out-of-touch asshole in this thread.

Says the person that last had to interview when??? You can have an opinion about something but you need to be smart enough to know when it's just an opinion and when it is an educated opinion. Unfortunately, you neither directly deal with the unemployed via job placement, unemployment benefits provider, or are unemployed, so no you are not QUALIFIED to make these statements.

I'm being so sincere right now, is your head really that far up your bum? No, seriously. Have you not read that people have been putting in tons of applications/resumes a week? Whether or not you get an interview is not up to you, employers see hundreds of applications. Oh...and how is it that you move when you don't have any money? Do you think you'd be gainfully employed if you weren't given a job at your family's firm?

If Kevin isn't just joking around, I am inclined to believe that he isn't too bright and intuitive, and is hiding that fact behind notions of social conservatism and legal studies (many people think being an attorney entails completely neutral and objective applications of anything and everything--it's like a 24/7 Intro to Philosophy and Logic course).

I can agree with als just a smidgeon.

I have a Master's. I applied for ALOT of jobs after graduation.

Before I got the job I have now, my only option was a part-time position with crappy pay.

Did I want to be part-time with a Masters? Nope.

Did people have jokes because I had an M. Ed. and a part-time job? Yep.

Was I super happy? Nope.

But I did what I had to do until I found something better. I'd still be there if my curent job hadn't come along.

If you lose a job making $50,000 a year, a $7-an-hour position isn't going to allow you to continue supporting yourself/your family.

And, again, many employers aren't hiring educated people for these jobs right now because they know that the employee will leave as soon as something better comes along.
