Yay for your daughter and yay for Dee Gee! For some reason, I had a hunch on this one. Truthfully no real foundation for it...just an attraction to this thread!! Glad she had a happy ending!

Congratulations to your daughter and her new home, Delta Gamma! After going back and reading the comments about Cowgirl, it seems like it was right all along!

And I'm actually working right next door to Texas A&M as I type this...albeit not in College Station!

Wrap Up

I cannot believe it has only been a week since we moved our daughter to college. This has to have been one of the longest weeks of my life. I feel such relief but realize some other girls' dreams may not have come true. My heart goes out to them. Daughter stated she heard of a lot of girls dropped out, but she has no way of knowing if this is true.

I did not inform Anchor Baby (I kinda like that) of my GC thread until rush was over. She kind of got a kick out of it, but would only allow me to reveal her sorority's name - she does not want me to reveal who any of the other sororities are. In a way I have to agree. Not all of the posts were flattering, and I don't think any future pnm's should be influenced by my daughter's impressions. Although I feel fortunate to have found some prior threads about Texas rushing (some going back 3 or so years ago), I realize that this stuff stays in cyberspace forever - how unfair for a pnm in 2011 to have an impression of a specific sorority based on what my daughter thought three years ago.

The girls she formed bonds with in her rush group all pledged different sororities, she thinks they're all great and they already have plans to meet up next week. AggieAXO, you are correct - those fish camp friendships extend beyond those few days in camp. It is traditional for their groups to have reunions and attend events together. She can’t wait to see the kids in her group again. This is actually what made her have doubts during her last day of rush – she had gotten to make so many new friends before school even started that she wondered if she really even needed Greek life to continue making more. Apparently, she decided it would be worth it. She couldn’t be happier with her decision. Future pnm’s and moms: if there is one piece of advice I could give, it’s to get at least one rec for every sorority. Do not listen to the rush booklet that A&M sends in the spring out saying this is strictly optional. I believe in my daughter’s case it was key to getting her invited back to philanthropy day, where she could get to spend more time at the houses. Once again, it has been a wonderful experience and thank to everyone for their support.

I wasn't on GC back in 2008 so happy to read some of these old recruitment stories. Bluebonnet Mom's daughter had a level head on her shoulders and a happy ending.
