Third Day Second Visit Philanthropy Day

I walked in expecting three maybe four houses to visit. I heard that girls had already dropped. The Rho Gammas handed out the schedules and….
I had a full schedule.
WHAT?
I’m a sophomore what is going on? I never had a full schedule last year! I had not been invited back to Ducks and Bruins. I was not sad. I had been equal about Bruins and Sun Devils. I was so shocked by the fact that I had a full schedule.

Beavers: I am a face person. If I have ever talked to you once, there is a good chance of me recognizing you. I had played soccer in middle school with the girl who called my name. She didn’t recognize me, which was awkward. We went into the backroom and began on the activity for philanthropy. The other PNM I was paired with was laying the compliments on really thick, but “Cari” seemed to enjoy it. Have you ever heard anyone talk about how pretty the hardwood floor is? After that we started to look at all the old pictures of the pledge classes, including the first one! I thought that was awesome as it is around one hundred years old. I was not impressed by Beavers. I felt bored.

Cardinals: Remember that girl in high school, whom everyone seemed to love but was a complete witch to you and your friends? Well, my girl was standing across from me waiting to be called in. I smiled and waved and well she ignored me. I thought we could be grown up since we were in college, but she still doesn’t like me apparently. I do not want to be in a house with her. Two new sisters picked me and two other PNMs up at the door. I did not liking being in a threesome. I felt crowded. We decorated the front of coloring books. There were boards in the living room about the philanthropy which looked really fun! I didn’t like the house as much as day one but I liked it more than Beavers.

Wildcats: I was called in with another girl. The two hit it off as they were both cheerleaders. I have nothing against cheerleaders, but if I hear one more time about how dance and cheerleading is the same, I will scream! I’M A BALLERINA! No, my dance is not the same. Ugh! I was turned off by this house. It had been okay before but now I was beginning to dislike this house. The first girl did not talk very much about the philanthropy and really all she said was that she didn’t know much about it. I really like community service so that was also a sticky point. The activity was really messy and difficult near the end. I didn’t mind. I wanted out of the house so the activity was okay.

Trojans: This visit was unremarkable. There was the standard talk and we colored. Then, they showed us a video from Greeksing last year. It looked awesome! I cant wait for it! They also showed us some shirts they have worn over the years. This might sound weird, but I really liked the way their letters looked. I thought the sisters were more interested in the other PNM. The PNM had clicked with our first sister.

Bears: I was so excited to be in this house again! The girl I talked to today was the philanthropy chair who had interned at their philanthropy over the summer. It was exciting especially since they had reached a huge goal over the summer. She had to go make an announcement and I talked to another sister. This sister was not so much fun. She didn’t seem interested in me, as if she was just going through the motions. In the front room there was a movie showing and I never got to see it. That was disappointing. The sister had said that she had felt tingles on day one and she always had known she was going to be a bear. I said I had really liked the house. I felt rocky as I walked out, but excited at the same time.

Sun Devils: I was excited for a second look at this house. The sister who picked me up was one I had talked to the day before. She was awesome! We watched a video at first and it sold me! The sisters looked so close and fun! After the video (!!!) we went to do a really simple activity and learn about the philanthropy. They do so much that I would love to be involved with. Ah! I was so happy to have a second look at this house!

We went back to the lecture hall to rank. On the walk, I began to wonder if my rec letters were the reason I had pulled through at a few houses that I did not feel like I did well in.
My ones were:
Sun Devils
Bears
Cardinals
Trojans
My twos were:
Beavers
Wildcats

This was not a hard decision.

P.S. This is last nights update. I thought I had posted it! I'm sorry! There should be a post later tonight... I hope.

Oh whoops! I'm sorry. I looked at the key wrong. I will fix that in a moment, but I meant beavers!

We know it's a happy ending because of her super busy homecoming-but, what GLO did she join? That is the question.

I'm so sorry

I'm so sorry for taking so long and I'm not trying to drag this out for attention. Life has gotten really busy and I'm having a hard time writing. I promise to have this finished by friday.

I was so excited for house tour day! I want to see where my future home is and what room I may some day live in! I had loved Bears the day before and was hoping to see them again.
I opened my schedule and saw a full schedule again! I was beyond surprised. I thought the first day was due to my rec letters or something. I was wrong. I really do fit better in my home state.
My schedule
Wildcats
Sun Devils
Trojans
Cardinals
No Bears. I was surprisingly not disappointed. I was very calm and was ready to see the rest of the houses.

Wildcats: I was surprised I was even called back to this house. I think my idea of membership selection is off. I had always kind of figured if you were in pairs and the other pnm hit it off with the sister, they would want the other pnm more than you. The sister called two of us in and we went right upstairs. We had heard of sleeping porches all week, but I couldn’t really imagine what one was. I was thinking like a camp cabin idea. This was so much better! It was carpeted and seemed cozy instead of campy. What was nice was this house had a 14 person and an 8 person room. I thought that was cool. The idea of the new pledge class sleeping in the same room seemed like a great idea and a great way to bond. The office/study area was great too, but reminded me of cubicles. I was not all that impressed by the house. I mean it’s gorgeous but I felt like I was at a neighbors house. Its nice and all, just not mine. After seeing the house we sat down and talked. The sister was ANOTHER CHEERLEADER!!! Everyday at this house, I had met a cheerleader. Was there anyone in this house who was not a cheerleader? I did not want to return to this house.
Sun Devils: Yay for this house! Even though it was my second choice the first day, yesterday had turned it around. A new sister asked me in today, after I got poured on. I really need to buy an umbrella. We joked about that. I was feeling really comfortable. The rooms here were so cute! All the rooms were beyond decorated. The sister and I talked about how neither of us could decorate very well. The sleeping porch was interesting. Instead of rows, the beds were all spread around. There were snowflake nametags above each bed, which I though was cute. Most of the juniors had their own single person rooms and many of them were Rho Gammas. The Rho Gamma rooms were funny because basically all of the pictures were covered. One just had a giant sheet of paper over a wall because it was her “picture wall”. The basement was the study area for all the sleeping porch girls. It was so hot down there! I was almost sweating. The sister and I started talking about teddy bears and dogs. Every new girl is given a teddy bear by her big sis at this sorority. We both loved dogs and had brought teddy bears to college. I felt great at this house
Trojans: I had a long way to run. I was excited for this house. I was also surprised they had asked me back. I had felt like I had not done well any time I had visited this house and yet they continued to ask me back. Weird. The sister called in two of us and we were led on a topsy turvy tour. We went second floor third floor basement main floor. There were so many stairs. The top floor had the work space for all the sleeping porch girls. It also occupied the guest room, which I thought was weird. Having a guest room like five feet away from a whole bunch of girls trying to study or well more than likely not being quiet. I don’t know, I wouldn’t be comfortable sleeping there. The sleeping porch was set up in rows and had clouds on the ceiling. It was not as comfortable as the Sun Devils sleeping porch but still good. The rooms also seemed smaller but it made more sense since they were all singles. The basement was the hang out place and tv room. The sister offered some snacks and I was starving. The other visitor refused. I think she was too nervous to eat anything. It was a good icebreaker for the sister though. We were able to talk about food, one of my favorite subjects. I was very happy at this house, though like past days I hadn’t felt like I had made a good impression.
Cardinals: Last house! I wanted to see the rest of the house pretty bad. I had loved the house the first day and liked it the second. I was hoping I would love it again today. The sisters called names and it seemed like half of the group was missing. Where did everyone go? Why didn’t people want to visit this house? It came down to one other girl and myself. The sister invited one of us in and I let her go first. The next sister tried a name but it wasn’t me and she invited me in laughing. The laughing was a huge selling point for me. It seemed like everyone was so stuffy that they couldn’t laugh. This sorority had everyone sleep on the sleeping porch and share an outside room. I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. Would I want to sleep here if I was an upperclassman? It would help me get to know the new live ins pretty quick. What was really cool is that the shared rooms where we would hang out and keep our clothes, we could paint any color. Plus a lot of them had names, like the Tiffany room. Guess how it’s decorated. I loved it.

Alright two ones and two twos.
Sun Devils for a one
Wildcats for a two
And then what…
My Rho Gammas had to help me with this one. I had felt only okay at Trojans all week. Cardinals I had loved two out of three days. I still had trouble though.
Cardinals had a one
Trojans had a two.
