Eddie Murphy is ready to sign the divorce papers to end his marriage to Nicole Mitchell. The divorce announcement made news all around the world. Eddie and Nicole appeared to have it all, five beautiful children and homes around the country, but Nicole dropped a bombshell. She was not happy, and she wanted out. She is currently dating a businessman, and she is ready to move on with her life. Eddie is ready to move on too, but he is being stingy with his money. He wants Nicole to agree to a $10 million divorce settlement. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Eddie is worth $500 million. Eddie doesn’t want to part with his money, and he wants Nicole to honor a prenuptial agreement she signed. Nicole wants her money, and she feels after all their years together and five kids, she deserves more. Eddie hates her new boyfriend, who sources say is a male golddigger. He does not want this man to get any of his money. Nicole feels Eddie broke their prenuptial agreement when he was caught by the cops with a transvestite prostitute. Nicole says she still doesn’t know the truth about that fateful night. Why was he with a transvestite? Eddie says he was just helping out someone in need: he had no idea the she was a he. What will Nicole do? Is she willing to reveal more about the secret life of her soon to be ex-husband? Will she talk about what really went on with their marriage? Eddie is very private. Will he want details of his marriage out in the public? This divorce will probably go down in history as one of the nastiest. If Nicole doesn’t get her money, what will she say? I can hear the book deals and interviews already.
Another high profile divorce took place last week. Babyface and his wife Tracey Edmonds are no longer husband and wife. Tracey got paid to the tune of $70 million. The money was divided into cash property, stocks, alimony, child support and a percentage of his music publishing. The Edmonds are the parents of two sons, and their breakup shocked a lot of people. Babyface and his wife appeared to have it all. Together they produced the hit movie and Showtime series Soul Food. Tracey has already moved on with a new love, and she could be married again before the end of the year.
How much more can Janet Jackson take? Once again, she has come to the rescue of her family. Last week California Officials shut down Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. The workers have not been paid in weeks, and insurance for the property and workers have run out. Ever since Michael was acquitted of child molestation charges, he left the country and turned his back on his family. They have been left to fend for themselves. How could Michael be so cold and cruel? Sources say that part of his life is over. He is ready to start anew with his children in Bahrain. The family compound in Encino, California was almost gone, but Janet came through and paid the $80 thousand in mortgage payments. Janet says she only did it for her mom, who still lives there, but the rest of the family is staying their too: Jermaine, his wife, ex-wife, baby momma and kids. Randy, his ex, baby momma, current girlfriends and children. Jermaine and Randy both share the same baby momma, and this girl has not worked since she birthed those kids. It’s high time somebody got a job. How much more can Janet take on? It’s one thing to love your family, but at some point every able bodied person in the house needs to pitch in. Janet needs a hit album to keep the cash coming in. She’s got to get her career back on track. Thank goodness she’s got a rich boyfriend in Jermaine Dupri.
Singer Isaac Hayes has left the building! Hayes will no longer be voicing the character of “Chef” on the popular South Park comedy show on Comedy Central. Hayes, who is a scientologist, says he is uncomfortable with the way the show makes fun makes of religion. He has been the voice of “Chef” for the past nine years. Hayes feels the show has crossed the line. Last November a show aired which mocked Scientology. The skit, called Trapped in the Closet, poked fun at the religion’s most popular follower Actor Tom Cruise. The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have responded to Hayes complaints. They say he didn’t have a problem cashing those checks when the show made fun of Jews, Christians or Muslims. But as soon as they touch on his religion, he’s accusing them of being bigots. They say his charges are baloney and they make fun of everyone.
A new sentencing date has been scheduled for Singer Ron Isley. Isley is scheduled to be sentenced on May 8th for tax evasion charges. He not only cheated Uncle Sam, he was also cashing his dead brother’s royalty checks. He faces up to 26 years in prison. On May 9th, The Isley Brothers will be releasing a new album called Baby Making Music. Will Mr. Biggs wind up in jail, or just pay fines and serve house arrest?
Mary J. Blige opens in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine about her past alcohol and drug abuse. She admits it almost ruined her voice. Look for Mary to hit the road with Jamie Foxx later this year as they go on tour.

At the movies, it’s Steve Harvey in the comedy concert film Don’t Trip: He Ain’t Through With Me Yet. This is a standup comedy movie for the entire family. Steve is not cursing in this one. He filmed the movie last year during Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Megafest Gospel Celebration. This is a different venture for Harvey because he is known for using profanity. Steve is currently hosting the syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show heard locally on WDAS FM in Philly. In a recent interview in Jet magazine, he talked about his new movie and recent divorce. After 17 years, Steve and his wife Mary are no more. A lot of people were shocked to hear this news because he always praised his wife. They are still friends, and he says he will never speak ill of her. Steve says he is open to dating, and he shoots down rumors of a romance with his radio co-host Jacque Reid. He says they are just friends.

Two popular TV Classics are headed to the big screen. Ice Cube is heading up the project for Welcome Back Kotter. The 70’s comedy launched the careers of John Travolta and Lawrence Hilton Jacobs and starred Gabe Kaplan as “Kotter.” Ice Cube will be starring in the big screen movie.
Now speaking of John Travolta, he will be starring as “J.R. Ewing” in the movie version of Dallas. The 80’s TV drama starred Larry Hagman as the devious oil heir. Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to play J.R.’s wife “Sue Ellen,” Shirley MacClaine will play “Miss Ellie” and Luke Wilson will play “Bobby Ewing.” John Travolta is on a roll. He is also starring in the movie version of the Broadway musical Hairspray with Queen Latifah. The movie is due out next year.
